SB Open Thread vs Cal on ESPN2

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

The SB team is playing Cal in the Regionals on ESPN2.  Cal defeated Pitt yesterday to advance.

ESPN has the game scheduled and announced at 4pm.  the MgoBlue website that is linked to the NCAA Regional Brackets has the game starting at 6:30pm.  Usually TV is more acurate, so I am opening this thread assuming the game is at 4pm.

the bottom of our line up is on fire, especially montemarano... which is just about the best thing you could ask for this time of year

Bats were alive and we were seeing it well. Betsa had what felt like a below average game and still only gave up one. Keep coming along and stay hot in the postseason!

Michigan is now 18-4 all-time in NCAA Regional 1-0 Games.

This was the 250th run rule win in program history.

Just got back from the game - what a fantastic day.  Perfect weather, Betsa dealing in the circle, and hitting through the line-up.  Highlight of the day, though, might have been that diving catch from Abby Ramirez - what a play!  Hope we can do it up again tomorrow!

On the final play Cal brought the ball to second base in an attempt to tag the sliding batter-baserunner. That might have been right with two outs, as the tag for the third out might have preceded the runner from first base's crossing the plate, preventing the run. With only one out Cal would benefit only if the runner from first base held up at third. Do we have a reputation for conservative base running?

I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to say. But, no I don't think we are a conservative base running team. Hell, we've blown through a couple of signs from Hutch already this weekend. I think this would show that the players are used to being pretty aggressive and probably were not expecting hold signs in those situations.

Do we actually want the seeded team to come out of the UGA regional?  Because that WKU pitcher looks impressive.  Only pitcher with more K/7 than Betsa I think, went 14 (!) today only allowing 1 and striking out 19.

Pittsburgh beats Oakland 6-3 and will play Cal in another elimination game shortly.

Hopefully it's a long, tiring game for both teams.
