Rumor: Xavier Worthy possibly headed elsewhere

Rumor on the Texas boards that Xavier is looking to get out of his NLI and sign with Texas or possibly Georgia. Sam confirmed coaches are aware and feeling nervous.

AC tried to leave, but stayed in the end.  Let's hope for the same.  Harbaugh should return favor when AC begged him to return to coach M, and reach out to AC and ask to reach out to Worthy.

If I’m remembering correctly it always seemed like Michigan was always his second choice. We were his first big offer but then Oregon offered and it seemed like he was going there but they filled up. Then Alabama offered and it seemed like he was going there but they filled up too. Then the admissions issue happened and finally Giles transferred. Seemed like deep down he never wanted to be here and was looking for a reason to leave.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. And the football program is a tire fire.

I mean, I get it. If morale is "hey, you guys should clap, that was a good play" low, then why would someone who could have their pick of teams want to stay?

Look at either basketball team for an awesome team culture. The FB team is.....not that.

If the rumors are true, then I’m sure the early enrollment issues played a major role. I doubt he would be thinking about leaving if he was already on campus. -If he does go somewhere other than Michigan, it feels inevitable that he’ll become an All-American.

I understand 18 year olds make bad recruiting decisions, but I see no reason for the coaching staff to release him from his NLI. He's been aware of the situation at Michigan the whole recruiting process. Short of a head coaching change, he should be expected to show up and play. Come the fall, he can always enter the portal, probably without penalty. And if Sarkisian is recruiting a signed player in any way, that's a complete douche move that's not going to endear him to the coaching fraternity. I don't want to sound spiteful and hold a kid hostage, but I certainly wouldn't just give into any back door douchery.

If a guy wants to leave I think you need to let him go.  Nobody is going to be happy and from a pure resource allocation perspective you don't want to waste time and energy during a pivotal season trying to convince a guy with one foot out the door to give it another chance.  I do agree that if Sark is recruiting him that's not good, but I assume his connection from Alabama played a role in him wanting to find a landing spot.

Is it just me or does it seem like he has wanted to leave since the second he committed? If he wants to leave that bad at this point just let him, it’s not even worth the headache anymore.

I got a similar vibe from his commitment as well. He never really totally pulled the trigger on Michigan, and almost seemed like he got caught in a game of musical chairs between Bama and Oregon with Michigan being his "safety" school.

His commitment was not really expected until it happened on signing day, followed quickly by his attempt to enroll early which admissions shut down because, who the hell knows.

In any event, hope he stays, likely he won't, and someone from the football offices needs to setup an understanding with the admissions office. Ridiculous that kid graduated from high school with perfectly acceptable grades and was given the run around. That simply should not happen, as outraged as that might make the academics on this site.

Sarkisian is a drunk-ass, snake-oil salesman. Like Texas is anything great. They’re one 12-pack away from a 5-8 season and another new coach.

I actually don’t feel bad if he leaves knowing UM would waste his talent like every other 5 star receiver we’ve had in recent memory.

6 months ago he was tweeting a lot but have not seen a post from him in over 2 months. I think he will be leaving. I wish he would stay, since he might end up being our best WR. Oh well, things are not looking up for Harbaugh and team this season. I hope Harbaugh does win 7 or 8 games but I just have this feeling we are going finish below .500 once again. Then what, do we give Harbaugh one ore season or should the AD can him and hire a new coach, with another 5 year rebuilding plan. This sucks and it wasn't suppose to be this way in year 7 of Harbaugh.

Texas may be the only program to do less with more talent than UM.  And, UGA, well eessseeeccc.  Kirby Smart's gonna Kirby Smart.  If he's interested in those programs I smell smoke.  If there was ever a time for NIL, it is now.  Roll out the money cannon and lets keep this kid.

Stupid me.  Reading is fundamental.  We disagreed to agree.  I think we will be fine anyhow.  When we won it all in 1997 the two or three years prior no one knew who or what we were.  I will never ever give up on Michigan.  Lastly, I will never allow my life to be controlled by the outcome of a football season it really is idiotic in nature. Hell nobody knows still what might or could happen this year!  The only thing you can bet on is the four to five posters in here to be constant bi)!!&3$ about Harbaugh and the state of Michigan and our football team.

As a side note some of you have mentioned and interesting note...it does seem like random "rumors" seem to be coming true pretty much spot on one after another. On one hand you can say when things are bad it's easy to just guess bad things and be right...that's kind of true.

On the other hand it's also another general sign things are not great and disjointed internally (surprise, surprise). I mean guys that have podcasts that literally guess at random rumors and hope to be right seem to be "in the know" at this point.

It's no different from companies when the culture and performance struggles and employees start talking very openly and negatively as they grow disgruntled, it's just how things work when the culture erodes.

The positive momentum and culture is palpable on the bball team team as a comparison. It's easy to say "winning fixes it". Yes...sure...but as someone who manages hundreds of people we had to fix the culture BEFORE winning could happen. Winning didn't create the culture.

Ok, sorry that's my negative post of the day I'll shake it off now.

Not discrediting you by any means but are you at all managing 17-18 year old high school athletes where most of their communication and ideas of the real world come from social media outlets and sports news. Because winning and being with a good team that will help them get to the NFL is like... their #1 goal before they even reach a CFB team.

Agree. Its funny to me that people were complaining about everything and then UM went complete rehaul and people are still complaining. I get it for those that just want Harbaugh gone I guess, but there is zero point in bitching right now. Warde is going to give JH time to see if this new reorg works. Barring a PR mess, which isn't happening with JH, he is getting a few years. I wish it had happened earlier, but i'm liking the changes. Younger staff, focusing on recruiting, some NFL experience....all positives to me. Will it all work? Who knows, but those thinking Coach is getting replaced any time soon and constantly bitching about it are just wasting their time.

It was in an ITF. I don't know any more than that except I don't think UGA has anything to do with it (via my UGA guy). Texas guy says Sark's desperate for receivers and throwing big money to solve his problem.

As mainly a reader/lurker I'd like to thank those that have posted so far for a thread full of comments actually analyzing the football program, free from political soap opera b.s. Much appreciated this morning.

Haven’t seen a rumor yet that isn’t true during the infinite sadness of Michigan football.

Oh well, good to see things shaping up for what should hopefully be Harbaugh’s last season.

Though I’m sure his replacement will be some other former player/coach who once sucked at the teat of Lloyd/Bo. Because that’s how things are done here.

I hate not being toxic like the majority of this fanbase, but OHWELL, let him go. He was not going to be the savior of the program, and if he doesnt want to play here - he would just transfer later. While it sucks to see this attrition - it opens up spots for others. Im not OK with losing, but his whole situation has been "dramatic".

Good luck, and I wish you the best.

Didn’t know who he was and it doesn’t matter, because the quarterback play is going to be crap until Harbaugh’s gone or has some kind of epiphany.  This plus a defense that I think would be good with two seasons in this system, but will be crap in year one, equals shrug time.

At this point consider him gone. On to the next. He hasn't even played a down here. This new era of recruiting, transfers and sitting out games sucks for the sport.

I’m all for the kids transferring and sitting out games if they really believe it is in their best interest.

However, as a fan, it’s really made me start to hate major college football. But at the end of the day, it’s a Michigan problem. Great players transfer from Alabama, OSU, Georgia and others, but they have the depth to handle it. Through awfully imbalanced recruiting classes, absurdly high attrition, and other internal issues, Michigan does not.

I could careless about it right now. So many players with high expectations go to teams and fail to live up to those expectations whether thats coaching failures or athlete failures. He is very talented according to his film and physical gifts, but that doesnt mean he's going to pan out with any certainty. He has not seemed solid to Michigan several times, send him on his way and give a kid who wants to be here the reps. You need all members of a team or business moving in the same direction to win.

Boo who. His 5 foot 3 friend leaves and now he wants out. Kid has been annoying ever since he signed. Get out, play, or shutup its really simple. Sure Michigan wouldnt have utilized him correctly anyway. Similar to Nico, DPJ, and many others.

My expectations for this season are low. I think Harbaugh missed his window. It is what it is at this point. I hope for the best, but am realistic to see the issues swirling around this program right now.

Worthy was the player I was most excited from this class but if he thinks he will be better of else where than I wish him nothing but the best (unless he plays Michigan). That being said, I think college football is becoming borderline unwatchable.
