RR: Tate's future with team "undetermined"
http://www.annarbor.com/sports/um-football/rich-rodriguez-tate-forciers…
Tate Forcier’s future with the Michigan football team is unknown.
One day after Michigan officials announced their backup quarterback was ineligible for the Gator Bowl, coach Rich Rodriguez said Friday he didn’t know whether Forcier would return.
“His status with the school is as a student, first and foremost,” Rodriguez said. “That’s undetermined at this point.”

See ya, Tate. Thanks for the Illinois victory.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:04 PM ^
A couple days after that great article about his interview, this comes to light. The article was a sham on Tate's part. He knew he wasn't going to be eligible.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:12 PM ^
it's clear Tate hasn't matured all THAT much from last year. that said, he's just a 19-20 year old kid who hasn't "figured it out" yet. It sucks because I'd like to have him around the program for the next 2 years regardless of the CC situation.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:14 PM ^
The guy had a poor semester in school. Let's not draw any grand conclusions about maturity.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:31 PM ^
that Tate is like 80% of the kids I went to school with at his age....except for the fact that he's in the pressure cooker of major collegiate athletics on top of the academics. Regardless, I'm saying anything about the young man that hundreds of people haven't posted before. The coach said it himself, he needs to fulfill his duties as a student first and foremost.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:31 PM ^
Well, it seems like he had more than one bad semester....wasn't that why he was taking 16 credits this semester?
December 31st, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
isn't 16 credits a normal load? Or do the players normally take less during the season because of all the other duties.
December 31st, 2010 at 2:12 PM ^
really heavy load, especially if you're spending a big chunk of time studying RR's substantial playbook. Apparently he had to make up for some prior issues to stay eligible or he wouldn't have taken so many. Players only need to take 24 in a calendar year, and 6 of those can come over the summer.
December 31st, 2010 at 2:13 PM ^
I never took more than 15 in a semester and I rarely even had a job let alone had to deal w/ practice, film, study table, travel, etc. He clearly was in a pretty dire situation to have had signed up for 16 credits in the fall semester (otherwise, why not just load up on credit hours in the winter when football isn't so time consuming....)
December 31st, 2010 at 3:18 PM ^
I mean really, what is the hell is going on? As an athlete, you have pressures of the program and a support network monitoring your progress. If this was an overloaded semester by accident, we have a poor support network. Unfortunately, I can only more plausibly believe that Tate has been previously dicking around (saw that from his last summer workouts) and was making up credits.
December 31st, 2010 at 4:15 PM ^
You rarely had a job and never took more than 15 credits? Man up Nancy. Try 17 credits, working 68 hours a week, having a wife and 2 kids and studying for the LSAT.
December 31st, 2010 at 4:25 PM ^
done that. No fun. never again.
December 31st, 2010 at 4:29 PM ^
Yeah it sucks
December 31st, 2010 at 4:41 PM ^
This guy clearly had the right idea. I wouldn't give up my final semester - where I had one class on Monday from 2-4 PM and no job - for anything in the world. Best four months of my life.
December 31st, 2010 at 5:38 PM ^
Doing that the last semester is fine but the guy said he NEVER took more than 15 credits and RARELY EVER had a job. One semester ok...all of college, time to grow up.
December 31st, 2010 at 6:09 PM ^
What are you? His dad? Just because you think you're the second coming of Chirst because you worked *I mean bragged* 68 hours, took 16 credit hours all with a wife and kid doesn't mean you're better than anyone else. That was your choice. To rip on a fellow fan because they decided not to work during college is completely egregious.
Some people actually want to enjoy their life. It's not their fault that you take life so serious.

December 31st, 2010 at 11:28 PM ^
man up? last time i checked = 15 credits x 8 semesters = 120 credits = diploma.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:31 PM ^
being just one term/semester. It sounds like fro RR's note that he has been on the ragged edge of academic disater for the past several terms. you can have one bad tern and stay in school; it sounds like this may not be the case. Whether he stays or not may be out of RR's hands at this point.
This is just my take reading between RR's lines FWIW.
December 31st, 2010 at 4:52 PM ^
that he got behind academically because he "enjoyed" the summer too much. I got the impression that is what made him have to take 14 credits. He took 16 to pass 14.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:33 PM ^
I just find it sad that in the interview from earlier this week, he was talking about how he had realized how important an education from Michigan could be and was taking classes much more seriously this year. However, he somehow found a way to be eligible last year when he claims that he was partying too much, but then this year, when he wants to take his education more seriously, he does worse...

December 31st, 2010 at 7:19 PM ^
saying in an interview that all you have to do to pass is go to class might catch the attention of whoever taking a break from grading your final papers and exams. how much i like my students and how seriously they take my class doesn't affect the grades i give people, but i know for a fact it does for some other gsi's. just sayin'...
December 31st, 2010 at 1:33 PM ^
How many of us didn't know a guy like Tate who struggled with academics and/or maturity issues during their first few years? I understand the difference is that those guys weren't also on television weekly but many of us know those same guys often went on to earn degrees.
I'll reserve judgment on one Robert Forcier just yet.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:59 PM ^
The first year is the adjustment period. He should have everything figured out by now. Theres not really an excuse for it, and Im not positive, but I dont think he has a ball-busting major course of study.
December 31st, 2010 at 2:29 PM ^
my sophomore year, I graduated with a 3.5. Kid was homeschooled and has about a zillion distractions. He's probably not used to being in large classes, much less hundred person lectures. He can still turn it around. Although I do doubt whether or not it'll be at michigan.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:34 PM ^
So what your saying is
Taters Not Gonna Tate?
WTF HAPPENS IF SOMEONE POST A " HATERS GONNA HATE"
This seems like the end. No "Taters gonna tate" and thunder storms in Michigan on NYE.
December 31st, 2010 at 4:27 PM ^
Thunderstorms on NYE?? Tater is a gonner. Kinda liked that kid but at Michigan you need a little more than street smarts.

and we all thought recruiting a QB wasnt important for 2011...uh oh!
December 31st, 2010 at 2:07 PM ^
why you were given a neg vote. Just being truthful. I'm just concerned for the young man's stability. When football is your life and Michigan is your dream school, losing both is a disaster. Trust me; I'm speaking from personal experience.
He needs a strong support system to help him up.
Maybe you could have been a little more consoling...He is a part of our team!
December 31st, 2010 at 4:29 PM ^
cuz if he was a part of the team, he would have done better in school and carried his grades. I would bet that he started slacking after the UConn game cuz he knew he was gonna transfer. But all he did was hurt himself cuz the new school will take his failure into account.
He is a great kid but had some piss poor advisors.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:03 PM ^
Man, he has had a rough year, I hope he turns it around.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:05 PM ^
Tate, Tate, Tate......
December 31st, 2010 at 1:08 PM ^
I sincerely hope your point total has nothing to do with your avatar...
December 31st, 2010 at 1:27 PM ^
It does, was at -20 when i put him up. F*ck it not going to take him down now.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:33 PM ^
No, it doesn't. It is the many ridiculous and stupid things you have said, regardless of your avatar pic. Don't be naive. Stupid and worthless are bad enough qualities to possess already.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:41 PM ^
You're right. Look at that thing that you have as your avatar.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:45 PM ^
Brewcity must be confusing my posts with yours, some of the totally ignorant, nonsensible, and just plain assine things that you write are mind boogling. To go around fat, drunk and stupid is no way to make it though life.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
That thing, chris perry, is not an america hater, what about your guy?
December 31st, 2010 at 2:09 PM ^
Hide your kids!
December 31st, 2010 at 2:21 PM ^
Whether you have Rush or Olbermann, your picture itself is toeing the line of a board rules violation and may be bringing you extra negs. Also, you didn't have a picture when you got sent to Bolivia last night, so don't blame Rush for your stay there. Brew City is a good poster. For all the flame wars you've incited and insults you've dropped in the last 24 hours I'm beginning to question whether you're a troll behind enemy lines, and I'm probably not the only one.
December 31st, 2010 at 5:09 PM ^
Why is it considered inciting flame wars when you respond to some one who has insulted you? Read the tape, not in one instance, not one, was i the one who demeaned or insulted someone first. I was only responding to something hurled my way. I will never be the bully, but I damn sure am not going to let some jack ass unload his fustrations of the day on me. Rule with an even hand

What about all that talk he was giving the media this past week?
December 31st, 2010 at 1:05 PM ^
Seems like there's a lot of "undetermined" going around.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:05 PM ^
This might be affected by CC. Either way it would be a great idea to take a qb in this class because if either Denard or Tate transfer we're down to 2 qbs.
December 31st, 2010 at 1:07 PM ^
I'm assuming Denard isn't going to transfer unless RR is gone so if they were to take another QB they would have to wait until after the program knows who the coach is going to be.
