RR doesn't know his future....so why not play like it
I want to start this with saying I am a firm believer in RR and really want to see him stay.
With RR in charge of the team and always giving Michigan the best chance to win, why not play Devin Gardner if needed? If he knew the future of himself at Michigan, I am sure he would have Gardner assume the Coner position fotr the entire game, but he doesn't know so why not put him in if it call for hime...EVEN if it is for one play.

Not trying to be a dick, but this could go in at least a few other threads.

If it comes to playing him and we win, or not and we lose, you definitly play him

Remember the UConn and ND games where Devin was in one play and handed it off? I would be furious if we were to burn Devin's redshirt on a handoff. I don't care if this is RR's last game, but if he is going to play Devin, Denard better be out for longer than a play or two. Otherwise, I think the coaches would be doing the program a favor by throwing Kennedy or Gallon in.
December 31st, 2010 at 5:40 PM ^
Whoah I didn't even think of Gallon as a possibility. He was running QB for the scout team offense right? Is there a chance that he knows enough of M's playbook to go in if Denard gets hurt?
December 31st, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
No. Maybe a few wildcat plays.

While I believe that many would say screw it and play him, I honestly think that RR would put DG first.

You are doing excellent, Great work, Now switch arms, You are very attractive and interesting, You are a go getter, You are strong and confident, Tell me again about the women who you do not like

Now here is some cab fair for your ride out of Ann Arbor....
December 31st, 2010 at 3:37 PM ^
F that. I want him to coach to win the game. If that means that Gardner blows his redshirt, so be it. RR is a competitive guy, he's going to coach to win today, not to keep some player around 3 years from now.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:39 PM ^
I agree with michgoblue. For all the attacks on the guy, he hasn't made selfish dick moves.
He'll play Devin if he needs to to win.
Heck, if RR gets canned, the experience might not be all bad for the program if Devin plays a substantial amount if the doomsday scenario occurs and Tate stays ineligible/transfers and Denard follows RR.
Devin will be 1,2,3 on the depth chart save Kennedy and whatever qb recruits we get.
December 31st, 2010 at 4:52 PM ^
Why do you find it necessary to post that you're pro Rich? It seems like a ridiculous tactic to make sure others don't lash out at you.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:50 PM ^
If it's just for one play I see no reason why we couldn't call a timeout, insert gallon, insert Kennedy, go wildcat, or even punt and play defense

There are half a dozen "creative" things we can do to let Denard get a small break. If he's going to miss more than one series though, I think you HAVE to burn DGs redshirt unless we are up by 21 or more.
December 31st, 2010 at 8:19 PM ^
"even put and play defense."
Have you seen our defense ... we haven't played defense all year. I'd rather have JK put up a Nick Sheridan style shotput desperation pass than punt and play defense.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:57 PM ^
One day eventually retiring on millions of dollars that he will eventually pass along to his blessed and privilidged children from the fruits of his very successfull coaching career wherever it takes him.
RR might come out of this ok.
December 31st, 2010 at 3:59 PM ^
Fact is RR is going all out to with no holds barred to win this game I'm sure in part to keep his mailbox in AA. However, if Denard needs to be spelled for a few snaps or even for a series or two I'd rather see JG on the field over DG. Having DG burn his redshirt for a few minutes of game action seems to be a bad investment - especially if we are handling MSU like our lazy brother-in-law's pesty pooch. Now if it's obvious that Denard must miss a large chunk of playing time, should such a negative thing happen, with the game on the line, then maybe DG should be sent in to win the game. Come on Denard - full game baby!
December 31st, 2010 at 6:41 PM ^
reports that RR is ready to burn his red shirt. How stupid and short sighted would that be?
December 31st, 2010 at 4:02 PM ^
I wish everyone would relax. Denard won't get hurt because he won't get tackled. Dilithium bitches.
December 31st, 2010 at 4:05 PM ^
You need to play with supreme confidence or else you'll lose again
and then losing becomes a habit – Joe Patereno.....why quote an oppenent??? Transfer rabble rabble...just curious and love to hear responses.
