Rivals 100 updated for 2014
Rivals updated its top 100 for 2014. I guess it's been lost in the hoopla of the All-Big Ten teams, Ohio State, USC, etc.
Peppers is still #2, but Drake Harris dropped off the list. The Rivals 250 will be released tomorrow.
Here's a rundown of all of Michigan's targets:

He missed his entire senior year due to injury. This shouldn"t be a surprise.

I haven't thought about recruiting in a while. I'd rather see them horde scholarships for 2015 than grab too many late pickups. We are still in it for a lot of quality 2015 targets, and I'd like to have slots for as many as possible. I really hope that KLS and Minkah Fitzpatrick somehow end up commits.

I don't know why we really need a SDE in the 2014 class. It's been pretty standard practice for guys to move from WDE to SDE, which could be the case for Taco Charlton and Lawrence Marshall. There are also guys like Henry Poggi who could play SDE. Even if we go one class without someone you identify as an SDE (Malik McDowell is still a possibility as an SDE/3-tech), there's still plenty of time for 2015. Michigan has only offered about 40 kids so far.
And with Marshall and Noah Furbush (who I think will end up as a DE) in the 2014 class, there might not be a huge need for a WDE in the 2015 class. It will sort itself out. It's too early to freak out about 2015 weakside end recruiting, in my opinion.

I'm already panicking that it looks like we're taking four OL prospects over the 2014 and 2015 cycles.

I wouldn't be surprised if another spot or two open up. I would like a running back and/or an offensive lineman if that happens.

Yeah, I'm sure it won't finish out that way. Taking only 2 in 2014 is fine since we took 6 the year before. But I bet we have some OL attrition over the next year which opens up another spot or two for 2015 and we take 3 that year. We'll be able to take more in 2016 and we already have Swenson.

Harris missed the entire season with a bad hamstring? Hope that's what it was.

Alex Bars was a disappointing miss. Give me a class full of high quality tackle types and they can play guard if they don't turn out to move as well in space. Vice versa doesn't work.

That's not necessarily true at all. Lots of OT prospects are taller and leaner which inhibit their ability to drive block, and lots of tackles can't pull well. Ben Braden was looking like our best non-starter at tackle and when the coaches moved him to OG because he was needed there, he couldn't hack it.
What we've been doing will work well. Bring in a few OTs, a few OGs, and a handful of guys who can do either well.

I disagree that failed tackles automatically turn into good guards. Some guys can play both, but guys are recruited for different positions on the line for good reason.
