If you haven’t seen it, check out his YouTube tribute to his friend Norm McDonald. He was really torn up, and had some interesting stories. Sad he had to join Norm so soon.

Norm's roast of Bob still makes me laugh. Two true gentlemen, two that were taken too early.
January 10th, 2022 at 12:22 AM ^
Speaking of Norm, as a kid I was a big fan of Dirty work. A movie directed by Bob and starring Norm and Artie Lange. Insane to think Artie Lange is the only one of that group still alive, considering the debauched life he has led. He must be like the comedy equivalent of Keith Richards.
Anyway, RIP Bob and Norm.

I didn't even know he was sick.

Great comedian, sad and now I feel old. Wish I knew how to retract a message post, sorry for the redundancy

When you're lost out there and you're all alone, a light is waiting to carry you home ...

Hope I don’t find the light in a hotel room
RIP Bob Saget

I know of a few that have died in their room while traveling on business in their mid 60s. Like you I don't want to join that lonely club.

Jesus. Five people felt the need to immediately post about the death of an actor from Full House.

Danny Tanner isn't just an ordinary TV dad.

Over the past couple years I've confirmed that I share UMich fandom with a diverse group of people. (Not that I didn't suspect as much earlier ...)

He was one helluva stand-up comedian. Got to see him perform live some years back. He was terrific.
January 9th, 2022 at 11:02 PM ^
Yes he was --- very very very good show when I saw him.
65 years is a good run but it's also too early --- RIP to him.
January 9th, 2022 at 8:22 PM ^
I heard he went looking for Dean Martin's son.
January 9th, 2022 at 8:25 PM ^
I saw him at the Michigan theater about 15 years ago. He was super funny. Pleasantly surprised by that. I also had the pleasure of being in the second row where he proceeded to make me the butt of his several jokes. I was honored.
January 10th, 2022 at 1:08 AM ^
same thing happened to me at a Chris Rock show in Raleigh back in 2003. I make the bad decision to go the show with my gf and her parents. He saw what was going on and just killed me with sex jokes in front of her parents. Loved every second of it.

I’m guessing Bob’s passing hit a particular age strata on this board pretty hard. RIP, Mr. Sagan, you and Full House were after my interest in TV sitcoms waned. I would have preferred that 5 threads were devoted to Sidney Poitier, for example.
P.S. My user name checks out.
January 9th, 2022 at 11:05 PM ^
With you Grampy. Poitier's performance as Virgil Tibbs In The Heat of the Night, given the era, was astounding.
Aside: the co-star was the superb but essentially forgotten Rod Steiger. Over a four year period he played leading roles in The Pawnbroker, Dr. Zhivago and In The Heat of the Night.
January 9th, 2022 at 11:38 PM ^
More threads and comments on Bob Saget and Betty White than Poitier. Says something--not sure what exactly.
January 9th, 2022 at 9:20 PM ^
How many times did this blog want to memorialize him? Quite a few apparently.
In all seriousness though, very tragic news. He was a very talented and very funny man (saw him live once) indeed.
January 9th, 2022 at 9:27 PM ^
Someone did make the comment about 9 lives, so I guess we ran with that. I think we got to at least 7.
I'll take my negs here, folks. Fair is fair.
PS I think a lot of us would be amazed at the number of people who just know him from Full House and not his stand-up act. They'd probably be shocked, although most of us know better.
January 9th, 2022 at 9:25 PM ^
He had a face like a flower........yeah a cauliflower.
January 10th, 2022 at 4:17 AM ^
I don't think people are getting that this is a Norm Macdonald line from Bob Saget's Comedy Central Roast. It was actually a really good routine by Macdonald and a really funny celebrity roast overall.
January 10th, 2022 at 8:17 AM ^
Many don't get alot of things. It is sad but really more amusing.
January 9th, 2022 at 9:31 PM ^
I didn't give a shit about "Full House" but "America's Funniest Home Videos" was must-see TV in our family when our daughter was young. Saget was the perfect host of that show.
January 10th, 2022 at 1:18 AM ^
I remember Newsweek did a piece on Funniest Home Videos' burgeoning popularity in which they called him "Bob Paget".
They later printed a letter to the editor from him in which he pointed out that his name was 'Saget', not 'Paget', and signed off with "my best regards to everyone there at Time."
he was really underrated; surprisingly funny in all sorts of situations. Requiescat in pace.
January 10th, 2022 at 3:04 AM ^
Half of the "America's Funniest Home Videos" segments that ended in disaster started out with the phrase "Roll Tide!".

If you have never watched The Aristocrats, do yourself a favor and watch it as soon as possible!

Shocking. Was a part of so many people’s childhood. Now he’s with Norm again.

We are all gonna die some day, some sooner than others. Good luck too everyone on the other side.
January 9th, 2022 at 11:06 PM ^
I see that all of the other threads reporting on this tragic event have been removed. I will miss them and hoped they would have been saved for posterity. RIP.
January 9th, 2022 at 11:37 PM ^
I liked his work w/ Jamie Kennedy, Entourage, and his self-deprecating humor in Fuller House.

Plumpy. What is it like prime rib with drippings? Do Dirty Work 2.
