This has been going around on Twitter after a couple PSU players posted it. This letter was sent to PSU player Jonathan Sutherland who has dreads.

Exactly. Sadly, this isn't a "penn state" thing; it's a bigot thing

No a doubt in my mind its real. Its a same that people feel the need to send this kind of crap to kids.

Invariably the major of people are too cowardly to say something like this directly to anyone else and relies on letters or anonymity.

Dear Dave,

I am younger than you.  I follow many things in the news now that the baby boomer generation is aging. I love it, my parents are baby boomers too. I respect you as my elder and believe me I want to get there someday too.

Your generation is great and I don't think we will be as hard working and faithful when our generation gets to be your age.  Watching you age, I couldn't help but notice your - well- awful grey hair.  Also, why do you insist on a mustache, reading glasses, and Velcro shoes?  Surely you have a mirror in your house!  Don't you have children or grandchildren that tell you that you are not stylish and that you are super unattractive?

You will certainly be playing bridge on Sundays, but I have stopped visiting assisted living homes b/c of all of the disgusting smells, old balls, crazy thin grey hair, and antics of those who can no longer help themselves.  Older people should act like they have been there before.  They are adults.

I believe they’re called “Locks” and not dreads. There’s a lot of history behind locks and what they represent. Very unfortunate that this young man had to receive a letter like that from his own university.

Sad no matter how you look at it...

If this is a letter that's sent by someone in a sincere tone, they're obviously wrong and have some psychological issues of their own to resolve.

If this letter is a troll trying to harm a player, it's actually more outrageous and disgusting. These kids, no matter what University they play for, are trying to do something they enjoy, or are good at in order to potentially earn a living, or acquire a free education. Either way, kudos to these kids for putting on a helmet and trying to improve themselves.

95%  certain this is fake.  Meaning someone just trolling him.

Although, I do remember a Michigan DB "tackling" someone by their dreads (I think this was during the RR era), so, from a competitive standpoint, it may be a good idea to shave your head.
