Jim Harbaugh on Michigan reaching out to him: "As a principle, I don't talk about any other job other than the one that I have."

http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawakami/2014/12/08/jim-harbaugh-3/

-Q: Yesterday the NFL Network reported that the University of Michigan reached out to you and you expressed either directly or indirectly a desire to remain in the NFL. Did that occur?

-HARBAUGH: As I’ve said, as a principal, I don’t talk about any other job other than the one that I have. I’ve answered this question many times, even recently… so you know exactly where my priorities are.

I get this from the Marines–leaders eat last. My No. 1 priority is winning football games. Second priority is the welfare of our players, our coaches, all our staff, the welfare of our team.

And lastly is my own personal professional future.

It is in the best interest of every NFL employee and everyone who covers the NFL exclusively to pretend Jim has no interest in UM. It's not a good look for the industry titan, the world's only major football league, to lose one of its best coaches to the college ranks...so, until such a thing actually happens they will pretend there's no chance

No where near close to the Les Miles "Have a great day" presser in '07. This statement by Harbaugh may actually be a very positive gesture to us in Ann Arbor (I/we all hope).

That other thread got yanked before I could reply, but I wasn't judging or criticizing your low point total...it was just an observation.  Sorry if it came across dickish, but it wasn't intended that way.  I always marvel at people who can lurk without commenting much.

I had my reasons for lurking...among them was that I was really too damn lazy to get a new password when I forgot the old one (which really makes me a major slacker), making some slightly off-base assumptions about the demographics here at mgoblog (I thought that it was mostly college students and recent grads).

My love for UM has been lifelong, though,  even though I am a graduate of Loyola U-Chicago and there does seem to be a bit of a bias here against "Walmart Wolverines"...of which I suppose that I am one since I didn't attend the school but my love for UM goes back to Leach/Lytle.

That sounds like a steamy bowl of non-denial soup on a cold winter's day, snuggling up on the couch on a Saturday afternoon with your favorite guy/gal, and the opening credits to Rambo: First Blood, Part 2 just came on.

Count me in!!!

I just signed up here at Mgo....so i don't want to establish my reputation as a member who posts dumb stuff and isn't serious. I've made a couple tongue in cheek comments which are just in fun. but honestly, I have a feeling our next coach is going to be Greg Schiano. I am totally against it but i've been seeing, reading and hearing that alot.......my only question is, what difference could he possibly make?? I'd rather hire Bo "purple face 2.0" Pellini over Greg Schiano

Well. Double post on your first is a good start. That said, nobody really knows if any of what we are hearing has ANY merit. It could be that Schiano's agent is throwing his name out there in an attempt to get attention. It could be that a deal is already in place or it could be that now that the leak in the AD office is fixed, it's all going to be kept secret until it happens. I wouldn't get too concerned about Schiano.

A much shorter answer to all of the questions from the press would be No I am not coaching at Michigan, I have a job. Simple, Straight and to the point answer.

Jim has not said these words...........................

Last week the press asked him about Michigan, he avoided the question. This week they asked about the NFL and basically got the same answer reworded.

IT'S MICHIGAN!!!! GO BLUE!!!

By all accounts, Harbaugh has great regard (affection) for his alma mater, the University of Michigan.

Therefore,

if he was NOT coming to UM, he would not delay his decision and string them along, when they should be actively persuing some other, viable candidate.

Anyone who thinks coaches are so focused on their job, that they don't consider other jobs when it is clear they will have to find a new one is just accepting garbage coachspeak. There is simply too much at stake for JH to not think about it. He's had enough time to give Michigan a no; if UM would have heard no already, then I think there would be too many agents and coaching candidates involved for nothing to be leaked. Ergo, it's happening.

Listen Harbaugh is not a tool. If he wasn't going to take the Michigan job he would have said so already so that Michigan could continue on their way. Brandon knew instantly that Harbaugh was not coming.

This will happen probably sooner than later with the way San Fran is playing. And I dont need to pay some website to come up with this. My bet isn't 60/40 it's 100%.

Book it bitches.

I can see Harbaugh saying something like, "well, I need three more weeks to figure things out with my current situation.  So go ahead Mr. Hackett and talk to other potential candidates.  I just don't know yet.  I am not saying no.  I am saying maybe."

And that's exactly what he said.  Book it.  I believe Harbaugh when he says (in so many words) that his first priority is to his current employer.  I can't fault him for that.  It's the right and respectable thing to do.  We'll know a lot more about this whole situation come Christmas time.
