Yeah, but I'm still very interested to see what we're ranked.

Coaches poll is not the one I recognize, but I'm expecting a top-5 ranking.

My prediction is #3 in the AP.

Seriously! I'm totally with you on this. Harbaugh and the team believe they can do it. They know more football than we ever will. If they believe, then we should, too. We know this team is really good and the coaching staff is elite. Let's do this.

We have a roster full of players who will be drafted next year and a coach who doubled our win total from the previous year, in year one.

We were actually in the CFP discussion last year late in the season. In year one.

We killed an SEC division champion in their home state, by 34 points.

Wish this were true.  IMHO, too often, teams retain high rankings because they don't lose early on, regardless of how poorly they play.  Builds a level of emotional committment that in my mind results in unearned bias when comparing teams with close records further down the line in the season.

I don't see us ahead of Alabama, Oklahoma, or Clemson. Somewhere between 4-7.

I'll go for:

1.Alabama

2. Oklahoma

3. Clemson

4. Michigan

5. Florida State

6. LSU

7. Ohio State

8. Stanford

9. Notre Dame

10. Tennessee/USC/Georgia

Did anyone watch OU last year? Complete fraud. Their OL and DL were abused vs Texas, Clemson, TCU, etc. and they don't bring a lot of those guys back. The Big 12 is a terrible conference and they benefited from that greatly last year.

Swap Michigan and OSU in that list for a closer representation of the actual poll.  I think the coaches will see OSU's situation as more reloading than rebuilding.  With an experienced QB, it will be easy for coaches to rank the Buckeyes higher given that we have to break in a new quarterback and questions in the run game.

I know everyone is excited, I know I am. Why would we deserve to be a top 5 team this year before proving anything? We have a big question mark at QB (even though I trust Harbaugh to make lemonade even with possible lemons) and our running back position is more of a question mark than ppl think. We ran well against Florida when we had a month to prepare but we weren't that impressive during the season week to week. And while the defense will be amazing, they're also adjusting to a new system. I just can't put us in a top ten if I were putting a poll together. I'd put us realistically (as of today) at 12-15. But who the hell cares what I think haha

Every team is going to have major question marks coming into the season. That's the nature of college football. Bama is breaking in a new QB. LSU is returning a QB who wasn't particularly good last year. Ohio State is basically turning over its entire roster. I know it's the nature of many to try to keep lowered expectations to avoid disappointment, but there really isn't a realistic argument against this being a preseason top 10 team based on returning talent.

All of the CFP teams from last year will be ahead of us, plus FSU and LSU.

Writers like Harbaugh and will give him credit.  Coaches, ADs and SID's?  Too much jealously and hate to be willing to put him in the top 5.
