Possibility of redshirt for Peppers and Hoke's take on offensive line issues
Here is some REAL information regarding Peppers. According to Hoke, a Medical Redshirt may be a possibility. I guess his injuries are severe enough for this to be in consideration. Also, Hoke provides a theory (excuse?) about the Offensive Line's lack of development relative to other positions. He thinks the lack of summer camps for lineman and teams "trying to recreate defense" may be the problem. Yikes... Link Thoughts?

I do believe that had our OCs designed better game plans to compensate for our OL issues, our QB/QBs had more savvy in the pocket and our backs had more competence in bouncing to an open lane the line play would not have seemed as bad.
No doubt the poor developmental progress of the OL is real, but we have had somewhat of a perfect storm in that other positions lack of ability or inability to adjust has made the situation worse.

I asked Sam Webb this morning about this explanation from Hoke. He laughed and said he had no information about it. I've been listening to Sam long enough to be able to listen between the lines, so to speak, and I'm pretty sure he's as puzzled about it as the rest of us are.
Given the constant weekly contact between the program and WTKA, Sam is as plugged in to the program as anybody else is, and it's revealing that he doesn't know what on earth Hoke is talking about.
This lame explanation is just another thing that rival schools can beat us over the head with in recruiting battles, as if our poor play on the field isn't bad enough.

I'm not worried about Peppers being here for a fifth year, I'm worried about him being here for a second. The coach is probably gone, the team is bad, and he's not playing and not happy about it. I'm worried we're never going to get to enjoy him here, like an exacerbated McGary or a Jamal Crawford.

Doesn't seem to be a problem for other teams with young players. The theory that needs to be explained and fixed is why Michigan is not adequately developing players as other schools are?

Hoke covers his coaches behinds no matter how inept they may be. The talent hasn't been developed at any position on this team under Hoke. The O line is the b est example of it. Funk is useless, but so is Wellman and his S & C program. How can this be year four of Hoke tenure and every phase of this team is a mess?
There is no argument that can be made to prove Hoke should get one minute longer after the OSU game. The team may love and back their coach, but he has done them all a disservice. He may be their "father" on the team, but he ain't teaching them much.

I apologize if this is somewhat unrelated to the original topic (it is Pepper's related however), but I am unable to post.
Quite simply put, if Hoke is canned, is Pepper's transferring? Is his return dependent on who would hypothetically fills Hoke's vacancy or does Pepper's truly value Hoke and his staff to the extent that he would jump ship regardless? It appears to me this occurs much more in college basketball than in football, but my gut feeling is the kid was more drawn to the allure of UMich's tradition and the university as a whole, rather than the fat man. I'm of course relying on truthiness to support my assumption that he will stick around.
