OTish - G.G. Jackson first recruit to decommit from UNC men's basketball since 2003

Elite rising senior G.G. Jackson has decommitted from North Carolina, he announced via social media on Thursday.
Jackson becomes the first prospect to decommit from North Carolina in nearly 20 years; J.R. Smith committed to the Tar Heels in 2003, but opted to go straight to the NBA out of high school. No player in the modern recruiting era has decommitted from the Tar Heels and gone elsewhere for college.
Send him a bag Santa!
Reclassifying and heading to South Carolina.
That is pretty remarkable. A true testament to the UNC "benefits" program to fend off the others for that period of time.
He'd become my most favorite player if came out and said he is decommitting because NC won't let him attend class or write his own papers once he comes onto campus because he truly values an education.
UNC is a good school but they never really seemed to pay a price (that I remember) for their big athletics/academics controversy where athletes had fake classes for 18 years. They had players who were functionally illiterate.
I'm sure if it was UNC-Charlotte or UNC-Wilmington the NCAA would have put them on probation for decades.
The problem is more than UNC if our public indoctrination centers are turning out people who are functionally illiterate when they get to college... college is made to teach people to read
LOL! They flat out told the NCAA it was none of their business because the fake classes were also attended by non-athlete students. The NCAA accepted that with a big smile - no legal fight they’d lose anyway. The Academic accreditation guys didn’t really care. uNC was put on super scary probation for a couple of years.
I think the fact he is going to South Carolina probably nixes any hopes of that
Poor UNC. They've had so many bad breaks with recruits over the last forty years.
For real, I think Maizinator has the right idea in his post.
As a UNC hoops fan I followed this recruitment closer than I normally do when it comes to hoops. From what I have read, GG really wanted to go to UNC in '23.
UNC will lose a lot after next season and GG would have been the man as a freshman which is doesnt usually happen at UNC.
However, according to reports, there was a lot of pressure from family members to reclassify. Well when UNC signed Nance they were out of scholarships which gave GG no choice but to attend another school if he were to reclassify.
Hope he does well at S. Carolina (most likely destination). Maybe we'll get to see him in the NIT if they are lucky.

Hard to pass up fake classes that give you an A just for registering
