OT: Is your high school’s football program any good?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on May 12th, 2020 at 10:02 AM

Mine is not and never really has been. Utica ‘14.

One good season every 10 years. I was on freshmen in 2010 when Utica won their last conference title but I stopped playing soon after.

The Utica Chieftains have the dubious distinction of being the only high school in their school district to not produce a single Michigan Wolverine Football player.

Curious to hear others experiences.

Mine:  Millington HS, very good small school, sevetal trips to state quarters and semis, but hasn't gotten over the hump.

My kids:  Grand Blanc, good program, but struggles getting past Davison and Lapeer, two exceptionally coached programs.

No.  First of all, it doesn’t exist anymore (Ypsilanti High) and second of all, they sucked. One guy I played with played D1 college (Toledo) and was a career backup in the NFL

High school was Muskegon Mona Shores, kids currently go to Coldwater which is the Interstate 8.  They are pretty good, kind of one dimensional but effective run game.  Lumen Christi is our biggest rival at the moment.  In high school we belonged to the Lake Michigan Athletic Conference, it was disbanded duevto travel.  It consisted of Mona Shores, Muskegon, Muskegon Catholic, grand haven, Traverse City and Benton Harbor.  It was a tough conference back in the 80s.

Grand Blanc. Respectable. Not great our elite. Did start the progress of Mark Ingram

I'm from Pensacola, FL. My wife's school had Emmitt Smith and Trent Richardson (and made the state championship game this year), and My brother's school had Derrick Brooks.

Nearly all teams here trade off highly competitive years.
