Priorities? In order.

My these guys really aren't that smart :)

What they didn't mention is that he has a returning offer to join the Boston Consulting Group if he doesn't get a Rhodes Scholarship. They paint a picture like he's putting all his cards down for The Game, but BCG ain't a paltry alternative.

Yep, even with Rhodes he'd proabably go out and work for BCG after that anyways

lol if harvard wins

they should win.

Harvard is the Ohio State in this rivalry: behind in the overall head-to-head records, but lately it's been all Crimson (the last four in a row, plus 9 of the last 10). Besides which, their color is a variant of scarlet. AND Gerald Ford went to Yale Law School after graduating from Michigan. QED.
Yes, yes, I know all of the "Harvard is the Michigan of the East" talk, but if anyone is searching for a reason to root for one of these venerable Ivy institutions over the other on Saturday, my advice would be to go blue & go bulldogs.

Nobody deserves to be analogized to Ohio State. You should watch the documentary, "Harvard Beats Yale, 29-29" and realize that Harvard (and the concept of the 'Harvard Man') is more analogous with the spirit of Michigan.
Never mind; I didn't realize I was addressing a Yalie until after posting.

Were you apart of "that whole Yale thing" that Patrick Bateman alludes to in American Psycho? If so, what was he talking about?
November 14th, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
Something tells me that guy will do alright in life even without the Rhodes Scholarship...
November 14th, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
Yale better kick some crimson ass
November 14th, 2011 at 4:22 PM ^
...he'll be fine.
Probably some Fortune 500 CEO alum called him up and told me that he has a job if he stays and plays. I'm pretty sure a Yale grad is going to be okay in this worth with or without a Rhodes Scholar by his name.

Has a better chance!

He's certainly upgraded after transferring from Nebraska...no offense 'Huskers, just speakin' the truth.

First of all, the Rhodes scholarship is really for people who want to remain in academia their entire lives, so maybe that isn't what he wants. Secondly, he is now THAT Yale guy who turned down a chance to be a Rhodes Scholar to play Harvard in a football game. Something tells me there are a few powerful Yale alums who will find a way to squeeze this fellow into their workforce.

and he is smart. Congrats!!!. Hope they play at the Yale Bowl. Actually, UM modeled the House after this venue. Give the kid a break and focus on on your own "success".
November 14th, 2011 at 7:27 PM ^
It's at the Bowl.
November 14th, 2011 at 5:26 PM ^
....and he'll be employed. I applaud his decision.
November 14th, 2011 at 5:33 PM ^
What if he skipped the game and then didn't get the scholarship?
November 14th, 2011 at 5:46 PM ^
..playing in the game and losing. It's the kind of problem we all should have: Chosing between an amazing academic achievement or being a starting QB is a rivalry game.
November 14th, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
Opportunity costs. I would personally attend the Rhodes Scholar, but I really cannot blame him for his decision.
November 14th, 2011 at 5:54 PM ^
....he's gonna LOSE.
He's gonna lose to a team who sings its fight song in LATIN!
November 14th, 2011 at 7:35 PM ^
Yale's Fight Song's are so great!
Bulldog! Bulldog! Bow, wow, wow Eli Yale Bulldog! Bulldog! Bow, wow, wow Our team can never fail When the sons of Eli Break through the line That is the sign we hail Bulldog! Bulldog! Bow, wow, wow Eli Yale!Bow, wow, wow. Good for this kid, but it's not going to make me root for Yale.

I'll be at "The Game" (no, not that The Game) and cheering for him and Yale.
