OT: Texas Tech G Max McGlung entering NBA draft

Submitted by Hotel Putingrad on May 17th, 2021 at 10:49 AM

So, failing to find any takers in the portal, and then finding himself on an island in Lubbock with Chris Bears now in Austin, our old friend Max has decided to take his talents to the NBA.

Texas Tech G Max McClung tells Jonathan Givony that he's "all in" and will forgo his remaining college eligibility http://espn.com/app

What a wild ride this young phenom has had.  Even if he doesn't get drafted, he'll still have all those Instagram followers, and the VA state scoring record.

Good luck, Max, but you probably should've stayed a Hoya.

I don't know anything about his game, but I think changing his name from "McClung" to "McGlung" right before the NBA draft was another poor move.

I wonder who was advising this Max McGlung guy, as I've never heard of him.  Now Mac McClung I get possibly taking a shot at the NBA.

Honestly, he was a 3* kid from a small-ish school in VA who had a GTown and Rutgers offer and parlayed that into a second-team Big 12 season and an All-Freshman year in the Big East.  Might as well bet on himself again.

And how about this "Chris Bears" fellow in Austin?  It sounds like the OP believes that  his transfer from Texas Tech to Texas had a lot of impact on Mr. McGlung's decision to go pro, but Chris Bears doesn't even show up on the Longhorns roster.  I wonder coach Chris Beard would have advised him to do it he was still at Tech.

I thought that "Chris Bears" might be an "Insider" nickname for the coach.  As in "By golly, that ol' Bears can really coach perimeter defense!"

Then I again noted the "Max" and "McGlung", and realized the OP was not an Insider - just not too bright.

FYI - on a separate note, I believe 95% of posters/bloggers who describes themselves as sports Insiders are shitbag losers.  And I am being kind with that conservative percentage estimate...

I will be interested in this outcome. Every year I hope players will learn from bad situations and advice their peers have to offer the day after the draft.

1. Make a post about a player no one is thinking about on this blog (except yourself)
2. Make the post come off kinda mean spirited and weird for some reason
3. Spell BOTH the kids first and last name's wrong, and his coach's name wrong.

This folks, is how you make a bad post. Gold star.
