Hard to feel bad for Ryan Mallett. Although I personally cannot attest to losing the starting QB job in the NFL training camp, he handled the situation as poorly as possible. When he got his chance, he did not perform. When he was beched again, he mentally checked out. That's not a professional, that's an entitled high school prima donna.

Remember when Mannigham chewed his ass out on sidelines? In all my years as a Michigan fan, I can never recall a moment when anyone chewed out the QB. This kid just cant pull his head out of his ass. Kinda sad.

There were rumors of Rick Smith wanting to keep Mallett and vetoing against O'Brien's wishes last night. That would have created a lot of organizational problems. I'm glad they went ahead and did this. Mallett had overstayed his welcome and BoB deserves more credit or say.

Kinda hoping that he would mature and change. It's easy to rag on a 18 year old freshmen for not showing maturity. I knew a couple of reserve OL that made no secret that they hated the guy...although this was after he transfered so take it for what's it worth.

He was kind of Arrogant, and acted entitled when he was in Ann Arbor, I was upset when he transferred, but knew a bunch of guys on the team who didn't care at all.... Some in his class.

Tom Brady does a weekly radio show in Boston.  They played some clips on a Houston sports talk show yesterday.  The host asked Brady if Mallett was a knucklehead while with the Patriots.  Tom paused for a long time and then said - "Oh, I don't know".  Nice non-answer that speaks loudly.

As a diehard Texans fan it saddens me how he turned out. Everyone had high hopes that he'd put that big arm to good use. Maybe he can get his act together somewhere else but I doubt it at this point.

Did people ever stop and think that even if he stayed in 2008 he would have led us to be okay? He had probably more talent than even Chad (and Chad was 5 star QB) but no where near the drive.

All the physical talent in the world means nothing if you don't have a decent head on your shoulders. I don't have much sympathy for him. He's had more chances in life than most and still comes off like an entitled little twit.

but nobody comments on the other rumor that still follows him around. The guy still looks and behaves like a coke head. Slight slighting aside, it's usually a huge bad sign of some kind when someone habitually "oversleeps". Best case scenario might be narcolepsy or heavy depression. Beat case.

so i have some fam that lives in Houston, one of them is friends with someone who's significant other works for the Texans.

I was down there for the Texans/Panthers game, and they kept saying how great Mallett was and he just needs a team around him.  I just looked at them the same way I look at my dog when he runs into the wall.
