Hard to feel bad for Ryan Mallett. Although I personally cannot attest to losing the starting QB job in the NFL training camp, he handled the situation as poorly as possible. When he got his chance, he did not perform. When he was beched again, he mentally checked out. That's not a professional, that's an entitled high school prima donna.

Ryan Mallett is out, but the Texans are bringing back a familiar face in TJ Yates https://t.co/QuCblHh9kN

Remember when Mannigham chewed his ass out on sidelines? In all my years as a Michigan fan, I can never recall a moment when anyone chewed out the QB. This kid just cant pull his head out of his ass. Kinda sad.

There were rumors of Rick Smith wanting to keep Mallett and vetoing against O'Brien's wishes last night. That would have created a lot of organizational problems. I'm glad they went ahead and did this. Mallett had overstayed his welcome and BoB deserves more credit or say.

Ryan Leaf, mostly in their attitude

Kinda hoping that he would mature and change. It's easy to rag on a 18 year old freshmen for not showing maturity. I knew a couple of reserve OL that made no secret that they hated the guy...although this was after he transfered so take it for what's it worth.

I was thinking Ryan Mallett is more like Ryan Leaf than Jeff George.

Tom Brady does a weekly radio show in Boston. They played some clips on a Houston sports talk show yesterday. The host asked Brady if Mallett was a knucklehead while with the Patriots. Tom paused for a long time and then said - "Oh, I don't know". Nice non-answer that speaks loudly.

not getting on the plane for the game, is equivalent to placing yourself on waivers, for a player like mallett.

Hopefully he'll learn some humility from this experience and use it to better himself as a person.

Rex Ryan is all about signing the NFLs rejects to Buffalo (plus EJ Manuel sucks hard)

Did people ever stop and think that even if he stayed in 2008 he would have led us to be okay? He had probably more talent than even Chad (and Chad was 5 star QB) but no where near the drive.

With his talent and the dearth of good backups that know their system (this is at the half way point of the season) there has to be a long list o other things that has happened to cause the coaching staff and GM to sour on him to this point.

Glad we dodge this bullet when he left Michigan. He still needs to mature. What a waste of talent.

so i have some fam that lives in Houston, one of them is friends with someone who's significant other works for the Texans.
I was down there for the Texans/Panthers game, and they kept saying how great Mallett was and he just needs a team around him. I just looked at them the same way I look at my dog when he runs into the wall.

Has anyone made the "million dollar arm, ten cent head" comment yet?
