Submitted by BeenBlueSince82 on

Interesting since Business School holds his name.  Also cause Ross admitting that racism deterred proper function of his business is huge news

EDIT:  1,000,000 typos and title. It's my first board post.  Thanks for the feedback about how to improve.

There is almost no context in the thread title to tell what it's going to be about.  Something along the lines of Stephen Ross has provacative explanation for Dolphin's bulliyng incident would work, or if you don't like provacative you can always use thought-provoking instead.

was "his business" in the title.

I maybe a dork, but I thought you were referring to Stephen M. Ross' company that earned him his billions, The Related Companies.

The Related Companies (big real estate developer/holding company) admitting that racism impacted their policies would be gigantic news.

Icognito being a racist fucker, unfortunately, was not very surprising.

So let me get this straight, two of the players doing the bullying were black, one was white. And the reason it occurred was racism?

I'm labelling this one a stretch.

Professional athletes locker rooms. Talk to any player of any group, and you'll hear that. I personally think that sports, even with all it's flaws, is as close to a pure meritocracy as you can get in the business world, and that is the reason why. Everyone can see the contribution of everyone else on a daily basis.

Here's the line from the Palm Beach Post -

The Richie Incognito-Jonathan Martin saga -  “This bullying incident was really a product of racism,” Ross said. The embarrassing episode led Ross to become active in the Jackie Robinson Foundation and to launch The Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality, or RISE.

Here's the "About" page for RISE, if you're interested - LINK

Founded in 2015, RISE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to harnessing the unifying power of sport to advance race relations. In addition to being one of the first organizations of its kind, RISE has formed an unprecedented alliance of sports leagues and associations, organizations, educators, thought-leaders, media networks, sports professionals, athletes, coaches and others who believe in the power of sport to build a society of understanding, respect and equality.

Then have the business school in your name at a major university lead the way opening doors and expanding opportunities...MAYBE even for athletes?

Title change or not, I think the OP's assertion is incorrect. From this very brief article, there's no insinutation by Ross that he's saying racism is a deterrent to his business or anything broader/systemic.

His comments simply and specifically point to what he believes was behind the bullying of Jonathan Martin. He was not saying that racism affected the Dolphins' (his business) success...their ability to win...the franchise's profitability...etc.

To the OP -- that's fine for you to have your opinion, of course. But, you overasserted your opinion on this news item/article as if it was an objective fact.

The problem with your headline is that you're putting words in Ross's mouth. At no point in the article does he say what you're suggesting. You are inferring something that isn't actually in the article.

Bingo, jmblue is spot on.

You're confusing the subjective vs objective nature of the storyline. You presented the title as if it's the objective nature of the article Ross' quotes.

Look, this is not meant to be the typical grammar/thread police witch hunt that often happens here. This was more a matter of clarification on facts as well as you openly soliciting feedback for how to best post content. Not meaning for this to be personal, just constructive feedback.

Is it really racist to be mean to black people if you are also the same amount of mean to other races as well? I mean, Richie Incognito is just is dick IMO. Also, Jonathan Martin could have handled that situation differently.
