OT: Stafford to the Steelers?
For my fellow Lion fan masochists, I am starting the rumor of Stafford to the Steelers since Big Ben is clearly done and needs to retire.
This is a win-win-win:
- Steelers get a QB upgrade for a team that has enough pieces to be a contender.
- Stafford gets a shot at a SuperBowl run
- Lions get some draft picks and free up salary cap space for the 25th rebuild of my 41 year fandom.

I am 34 years old and the lions have been rebuilding for pretty much my whole life. Whats another few years?

This thread makes me realize how few people understand value in the NFL.... he isn't worth nearly as much as people think in the trade market due to his age. Contract, and how much value even a 3rd round pick has in the nfl for many reasons.

His contract is quite reasonable by QB standards.

At this point Detroit should see what they can get for Stafford, and it'll be easier for him to take a shot at a title. So I assume Detroit will wait until he's absolutely broken and then have to bundle some assets to get anything back.

The Steelers are one of the elite NFL organizations-they are much smarter than this.

To the Broncos? He’s not a Running Back...

He'd be better off in Indianapolis, where Rivers is clearly done.

And he can reunite with "Fingers" Ebron.....

Don "Fingers" Felder is offended and would like a word.

Only if the Steelers agree to make the picks for our GM and then trade them over

As a fan of both teams, this makes sense for both and I would be on board but the proposal someone makes about a trade with Denver would be much better for the Lions.

Da Bears would seem to be desperate for a QB but I imagine the Lions would be reluctant to trade Stafford to a team in the division. I would do it though because even if the Lions could build a team competitive in the division, it would be well after Stafford's remaining 2 or 3 years of productivity.

Can't wait to see Stafford and Ebron make a deep playoff run...

The Steelers don't have salary cap room. Even if they would cut Big Ben, they'd have to cut guys left and right to make room for Stafford.

I'm Bob, first time caller. I got a trade proposal......

Does that mean the Lions get a broken down Rothlisberger?
I remember watching him play in Michigan Stadium.
