Neiuheisel said on Full Ride…

Neiuheisel said on Full Ride a few months ago that this is one game he still thinks about at night and how it got away.  Had a good explanation for how they wound up with too many guys on the field and how chaotic that moment was.

Enjoy that time with them.  My daughter, now 38, loves to tell people that she learned to sing The Victors before she learned Happy Birthday.

If Amazinblu's tix aren't available, I have two.  Will prolly only make it to a couple games this year - I live in NC - so lemme know if you are interested.

Worked on the same press line as her father at a Chrysler stamping plant, and later with her sister in the shipping office of the same facility.  Married 47 years with a UM alumnus for a son and a UW (Washington) alumna for a daughter.

Yeah, I was there.  Medics…

Yeah, I was there.  Medics hauling elderly fans out of the stands on stretchers, vendors running out of ice in the second quarter, and  PAC-12 officiating stinking out the joint.

46th wedding anniversary this weekend.  Brewery and BBQ cruise on Saturday, dinner at a French restaurant in Raleigh on Sunday.  I am informed that my honeydo list has one task:  "Do your Honey!"

Without doubt the 1987 Rose…

Without doubt the 1987 Rose Bowl against Arizona State.  Harbaugh' last game as M QB.  The ASU fans around us were drunk, loud, physically abusive, and had poor hygeine.  The men were much worse.  They made a point of knocking our beers out of our hands, pounding on our backs whenever ASU made a play and forced us to call the police up to our section.  The behavior got worse after the police showed up.  I didn't think anyone could be worse than USC fans but I was wrong.

Cade is a LOT like Craig…

Cade is a LOT like Craig Krenzel was for OSU.  Protected the ball, got it where it needed to go, and kept winning.  Never an elite QB, but made sure all the parts meshed on their offense.

Hope he recovers.  Sounds serious.

I am also an "older member…

I am also an "older member of society", and have been attending games lo, these forty years past.  The stadium renovations have kept the sound in the stadium, and due to "The Miracle of Beer" there was a LOT of sound carried into the Big House for a night game.  That said, the enthusiasm I witnessed was an order of magnitude greater than I have frequently seen in Michigan Stadium.  Kudos to the crowd for bringing it for our team!

Lived in MI for 30 years and Seattle for 21.  You could not get me to go to Seattle without a subpoena.  Needles, feces and degenerates EVERYWHERE.  Before I left three years ago, they were putting together a Heroinmobile so they could distribute free drugs and provide a mobile shooting gallery for junkies.  Funded by a $500 increase in my property taxes.  Glad I left.

I'd like to see Speed in…

I'd like to see Speed in Space instead of Stuck in Mud on offense, and ANYTHING resembling a capable front seven.  Beat Washington and Wisconsin and I will be impressed.

Harry owned a Mercury dealership at the end our street at the corner of Van Dyke and Outer Drive in Detroit.  We used to go there in the late summer/early fall to watch the new models being delivered.

He'd be better off in Indianapolis, where Rivers is clearly done.

I would consider Steve…

I would consider Steve Sarkisian.  Been HC at Washington and USC, OC for Bama the past two years.  Knows how to recruit and has contacts in the SEC and PAC 12 coaching communities.  QB coach for two Heisman winners under Pete Carroll.  Has overcome his personal demons and now part of the Darth Saban coaching tree.

I believe Bob Ufer described…

I believe Bob Ufer described him as "the Jersey Jet, who could run for fifteen minutes in a phone booth and never touch the sides!"

For those of you of a younger generation, phone booths were small closets in which telephony equipment was stored and operated during the 50s through the 90s.

Approximately 90 seconds…

Approximately 90 seconds after the announcement of Patricia's firing, the first "Harbaugh to the Detroit Lions" rumors will make their appearance here and on every other football related board.

I haven't lived in or near Detroit since 1983, but I still check out the hometown papers daily.  This will be a tough decision.

I think there is  a…

I think there is  a difference between spoken and written language.  A certain dialect, argot, or local idiom is interesting in oral communication, but words need to have meaning and the way words are strung together in written form needs common structure to be useful, particularly with legal documents and agreements, engineering specifications, scientific research papers, etc.  It may be fine to write in the same manner that you speak in blog postings, on Twitter and in personal emails.  Not so much in formal written communication, where using uncommon syntax and slang will get your writing dismissed as unserious, uninformed and uneducated.

I think I have the whole season including the Rose Bowl on DVDs that I created from VHS.  I will have to go through the inventory to confirm, but I am sure I have them somewhere.

When we get them we will…

When we get them we will likely send them to Ann Arbor for our season tickets.  If there is a season, fine.  If not, we can roll them forward to next season or consider a rebate.  Football revenue is the engine that drives the entire athletic department.  Since I am lucky enough to be able to work from home, I am happy to support Michigan athletics.

If you want to expand the history, how about Best of Each Decade teams/games/players? I will read almost anything Craig wants to write about, and the staff's player evaluations are still of interest.

Why is Nebraska-Omaha not a B1G team?  Perhaps it's a dumb question, or just a dumb guy asking a question, but it seems they should be part of our league.

I wear both red (St. Joseph's Day), green (St. Fatprick's Day) and red and green (Christmas).  There is more to life than maize and blue...

I agree with you, BronxBlue,…

I agree with you, BronxBlue, but what does it mean to hold them accountable?  Fire anyone who was there when it happened?  What did Bo, Mo and Lloyd know and when did they know (or not know) it?  Did any players complain to the coaching staff?  What were the policies and procedures in place at the time?  Have they changed since Anderson retired?  The independent investigation will surely make a lot of people squirm over the next couple months.

I make it from scratch every…

I make it from scratch every time.  Particularly if I have roasted beef or turkey - the pan drippings make the flavor!  Here's the recipe:

Make a roux:  three - six TBSP of fat from the meat (or butter if you don't have that);  add in the same amount of flour and stir into a paste in a hot pan.

GRADUALLY stir in chicken or beef broth till the gravy thickens, constantly stirring over medium heat.

You can add additional pan drippings for flavor after you have separated them from the fat, which should rise to the top of the container - I use a pyrex measuring cup and let it sit in the fridge for a few minutes to let the fat congeal at the top.

When the gravy reaches the desire consistency transfer to a gravy boat or bowl for serving.
