Be honest: If Michigan Speedway had that many seats that close to the field (Bristol, at barely over a half mile long, is quite a bit smaller than MIS and uniquely suited to this event) and Michigan and Notre Dame held a one-off game there, wouldn't our fans turn out en masse for the experience?

Absolutely they would. And they'd complain the entire time about not being able to see anything, but be happy they were one of the people that were there.

Everyone knew when they announced this thing it was silly...the views are awful. People are just going to drink and say they were there, not because they want to enjoy some kind of awesome fan experience.

But don't give Dave Brandon any ideas...oh wait, he sells toys now.

Dave Brandon would schedule a neutral site game in the golf course portion of the infield of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway against Indiana to set the attendance record without ever realizing that none of the main stretch grandstands that make up over half the seating capacity can see the back stretch or golf course at all.

I can attest here in Tennessee there is a ton of excitement for this, I am sure once it's over there won't be as much love for it but right now people think it's pretty cool.

That's... a good question.

He'll probably say the same thing. Pretty sure, for example, that Howard King still said that during the 2001 Illinois game, even though its 9/11 reschedule meant that quite a few thousand tickets were returned and unsold, while Tennessee had a rather big sellout against LSU that evening.

One could even defend it, since it's arguable if anyone in the Bristol end zones can actually watch the football game ata ll.

I don't know about a football game, but watching a race at Bristol is an awesome experience!  In a previous life, I had season tickets to Bristol, Darlington, Richmond, and Martinsville.  Watching a race at Bristol is a singular experience - not a bad seat in the house.  Mine were in the middle of turn 3, about 30 rows up.  The seats are almost as steep as the track - all we could see is the roof of the cars as they went but us.

But for football?  No, thanks...

Nobody going to this cares how well you can see.  They are going for the novelty of it and to say they were part of the largest crowd to ever watch a football game

BTW, they have done this before, a football game at Bristol speedway.  It is not new.

reminds me of the Bama game in Dallas.  The field was not only way down, it was waaaaay out there.  Anyone in the upper levels watched the whole game in the giant flatscreens because it did look like ants down there ..couldn't see much.
