My thing with these leagues are the sudden rush to full the league right at kickoff. Who says it isn't Draftkings filling the spots through an algorithm just to bump people from paying positions?

...they don't do it very well. Games don't always fill; in fact a couple of times I've gotten e-mails from them inviting me to play for free in a cash game--not the usual "free with your first deposit" deal but an outright freeroll--that turned out to be an enormous overlay.

I think that's probably their SOP--when a game's far from filling, at least use the empty slots for some free advertising, get someone in who's hesitant and maybe they'll become a regular. That makes a certain amount of sense if it was going to be a loss otherwise, but not so much if they were willing to simply fill out the games themselves.
