OT: Rutgers Football and their Biggest Fan

Submitted by XiX on October 24th, 2018 at 6:05 PM

Since this is a bye week I hope this post is ok. I know the jokes are plentiful as it relates to Rutgers and the state of their Football program but I had no idea about the story of Danny Garofalo. A kid who absolutely loved Rutgers football and became for them what Tyler Trent is to Purdue and Larry Prout is for Michigan. Really touching story... *I'm not crying, you are*

Thank you for posting this.

We are friends with the Garofalo family.  Known them for years as my son has the same disease, duchenne muscular dystrophy   My wife was at the funeral.

The team and players were amazing in their support of Danny and the family both while he was alive and after he passed.

What they do on the field is one thing.  That group of men have my respect and appreciation

On a side note, Eastern Michigan and Coach Creighton hosted my son recently for the Coach to Cure fundraising effort.  They were amazing to us.

Make every day count was Danny's motto.  Seems like that has been our way too.

My son is planning to be an aerospace engineer at Michigan.  MIT is his fall back.  Just a junior here in Ann Arbor, but he has his mind made up.

Every day is a good day.  His outlook has helped me keep perspective.

Thank you.

Despite the lack of success on the football field, I'm glad to see that the Rutgers players are going through an enriching experience, especially added by Danny. This is a great example of the mantra "Those who stay will be champions."
