The greatest QB in Lions franchise history playing his first playoff game in Detroit against the Lions has to be one of the most Lions things ever.
Can't wait.

Hall of famer Bobby Layne says hello. May his curse finally be broken.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:32 PM ^
1. Bobby Layne
2. Landry
3. Goff
January 7th, 2024 at 8:25 PM ^
Jared Goff has surpassed him. He actually has won something here.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:30 PM ^
Disagree. He certainly will have the opportunity to pass Stafford, but if Stafford had the complete offense (OL, RBs, WRs) that Goff has, he'd have won a lot more in Detroit.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:39 PM ^
Stafford had 10 years of chances and never won a playoff game at Detroit. There are plenty of NFL QBs with his numbers that won playoff games in their career while with one team.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:45 PM ^
Stafford never had the offensive line, nor the amount of weapons, nor the coaching staff that Goff has.
It's telling that Stafford went elsewhere and won a Super Bowl in year 1. The amount of Lions fans that still think Stafford was the problem is truly incredible.
By this same logic used against Stafford, Barry Sanders must be the most overrated player of all time.
January 7th, 2024 at 9:12 PM ^
Stafford is the equivalent of what Drew Bledsoe and New England would have been without Tom Brady. Great arm, no leadership.
Barry was the GOAT, but a RB doesn’t lead the team. Barry also won two division titles and a playoff game. Stafford won nothing here.
How is Stafford doing now. Locker room problems?
Are you Stafford’s mom? Edit: Had do ask given your level of support: “Greatest ever Lion’s QB” SMH.
January 7th, 2024 at 9:28 PM ^
Bledsoe took the Patriots to the Super Bowl.
January 8th, 2024 at 2:51 AM ^
Yes Bledsoe was better
January 7th, 2024 at 9:33 PM ^
Did Stafford bang your mom or steal your girlfriend or something? Had to ask given your staunch level of ignorance regarding Stafford's tenure in Detroit.
Again, if Stafford is such a cancer, how did he leave Detroit and lead a team to a Super Bowl immediately?
January 7th, 2024 at 10:21 PM ^
You started this conversation claiming Stafford is the greatest Detroit quarterback ever. He never took the team anywhere. He never won anything. Your claim is an insult to the Detroit quarterbacks that did win something. It’s an insult to the Lions. It’s an insult to all the great quarterbacks around the NFL that did win something. Don’t you think that this is an indictment of all the teams, and and indictment of the NFL as an institution. Well, you can say what you want to, but we are not just going sit here and let you bad mouth the United States of America!
January 7th, 2024 at 11:53 PM ^
It's an indictment of the Lions as a franchise. Not anything else.
But, yeah, go off, son.
January 8th, 2024 at 1:11 AM ^
You must have got a Stafford jersey for your 12th birthday or something when he was drafted, and you still held on to hope through all of those losing years. And now you have one on the wall of your man cave.
January 7th, 2024 at 10:37 PM ^
Let’s not be childish. The only question is why do you have these blinders on? He was controversial in Detroit for years. I know that, and I don’t even live in Detroit.
And sure he won a SB in LA. Injured last year so that doesn’t count. But he is surrounded by a great staff, team, and huge payroll. This year he has regressed to his old self. And locker room issues.
January 8th, 2024 at 9:16 AM ^
I always said that Detroit wouldn't win with Stafford because he could be average yet people will.love him anyway because he was still better than what we had. And it was true.
January 7th, 2024 at 9:49 PM ^
that’s just dumb.
January 7th, 2024 at 10:34 PM ^
Goff hasn’t won a playoff game in Detroit either.
January 8th, 2024 at 6:35 PM ^
Goff won a division championship. Stafford didn’t
January 8th, 2024 at 8:10 AM ^
The greatest thing Stafford had in Detroit was Calvin. He did not have a complete team or "culture" the Lions have now. The guy ran for his life to stay healthy and find a way to move the ball up the field.
January 7th, 2024 at 11:41 PM ^
Stafford had Megatron, Reggie bush, Jahvid Best, Golden Tate, Marvin Jones, Nate Burleson, ect ……plenty of offensive weapons throughout his tenure and for the most part he never did much with it….though I’d say that falls more on the coaching or lack thereof over his time in detroit.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:33 PM ^
Is that to say the NFC North title? Too low of a bar. Win the playoff game and it's definitely more.
January 7th, 2024 at 9:23 PM ^
The double revenge game!!!
January 7th, 2024 at 10:40 PM ^
Personally I think the NFL got what they wanted, Green Bay vs Dallas and Detroit vs LA with the former Lions QB.

I never realized how polarizing a figure stafford was for Detroit.
was always a good player, played well for Detroit during a time when they had up and down seasons and coaching. Went on and did great things in la and now hopefully we can beat his ass. Not much more to argue about.
January 8th, 2024 at 1:25 AM ^
That is the reasonable approach to the situation. Stafford always had great affection for the Detroit area and made that clear. He wasn't able to display his full talent because he did not have the necessary surrounding talent. I am amazed at the hatred so many have for him. I was hoping the Rams wouldn't play here. It will be embarrassing if the crowd shows unreasoning hatred for him. It would reflect poorly on the quality of people here.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:00 PM ^
The *game* should be great.
Get ready to hit your mute button though, because the talking heads are ALREADY not shutting up about some “revenge” BS
January 7th, 2024 at 8:22 PM ^
Revenge for what? The trade was a mutual decision and it worked out quite well for both teams! Everybody got what they wanted, and all are happy!
Why does everything have to have a revenge angle?
January 7th, 2024 at 8:34 PM ^
Goff may want revenge on the Rams
January 7th, 2024 at 8:46 PM ^
Mutually beneficial decisions don’t drive clicks, unfortunately.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:51 PM ^
Wow. 1VaBlue1 is really out for revenge against the talking heads.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:02 PM ^
I’ll be there! LFG! Can’t wait to get loud!
January 7th, 2024 at 8:28 PM ^
Give Stafford a.warm welcome during player introductions. We owe it to him for putting up with his employers all those years. After that boo him unmercifully.
January 7th, 2024 at 9:58 PM ^
Exactly.....i will cheer him (from home) in the pregame. I was always happy with what he did for the team and city.
Once the game starts, no way. Lions for the win.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:02 PM ^
NOTE..More Lions threads than Mich.BB..I'm not surprised
January 7th, 2024 at 8:06 PM ^
It was either them or the Bears, so the Lions were destined to battle an existential demon in the first round regardless.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:48 PM ^
Packers*
January 7th, 2024 at 11:09 PM ^
Yeah, Packers. Was looking at the standings and just flipped them. But honestly, it's all pain.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:07 PM ^
it'll be nice to get revenge against the Cowboys in week 2
happy Stafford got his ring, I won't feel too badly when we end the Ram's season
January 7th, 2024 at 8:16 PM ^
absolutely blows my mind that, but for the absolutely indefensible call against dallas last week, the lions would be the #1 seed in the NFC.
just home from the game. every time our #70 came into the game the ref would take the time to hit the mic button and say, not once but twice, '#70 for detroit has reported in as an eligible receiver', and every time he did, the stadium would go nuts.
January 7th, 2024 at 8:35 PM ^
The 49ers likely don't rest so many starters if they didn't already have the 1 seed locked up and then likely don't lose by 1 point.
January 7th, 2024 at 9:01 PM ^
this could only happen to the Lions
January 7th, 2024 at 8:08 PM ^
What a great storyline!
I've been thinking for a couple of weeks that if this game happens, it will be the Monday Night Football playoff game. I still think that, but who knows.
January 7th, 2024 at 9:23 PM ^
No doubt in my mind it will be the Monday Night game
January 7th, 2024 at 9:51 PM ^
As long as it's not the Peacock game!
January 7th, 2024 at 8:09 PM ^
Can we get a 2nd UofM national championship and a 2nd Lions playoff win of my life all in 1 week?
January 7th, 2024 at 10:57 PM ^
Don’t tempt the gods! I’m hoping for that Michigan win first and foremost and not trying to get too greedy oh Zeus, Allah, Jesus, Buddha, etc, etc
January 8th, 2024 at 12:15 AM ^
No…the worst possible match-up for Goff is McVay…he knows all of his weaknesses…which is why he traded him. Goff is going to have a very long day.
