OT: Purdue's Barlow suspended for the rest of the season
Purdue's Kelsey Barlow has been suspended for the remainder of the season. Edit your brackets accordingly.

EDIT: Sources are telling me that Barlow's suspension is from hitting Ryne Smith (other teammate now out with a concussion) in the head with a ball rack because he called him out for an alcohol-related issue. What a mess.

much of an impact IMO. That just mean that Moore and Johnson will have to step up even more which I'm sure they can. They have a very favorable draw.

People also freaked out when Hummel went down (again) and it worked out well. I agree.

To be fair, Hummel's loss probably took Purdue from a potential MNC to a good team. Barlow is a hit but his loss won't be nearly as significant .

the MNC is strictly reserved for football, no? :)
(or do people also consider the tournament a "mythical" crowing as well?)

all it proves is that a team ran well. The idea that the tournament proves who the best team is is a pretty giant myth.

Does anything "prove" who the best team is??

MNC? A 68 team tourney pretty much justifies a true NC winner.
Tournament Champion. Being the best over six games makes you the tournament champion.
This is a dumb argument. The tournament determines the national champion, period. Whether it's the "best" team doesn't matter. If you want to be the national champ, you have to win the tournament.
where everyone plays everyone and the team with the best record at the end of the regular season is the champion.
Just because Purdue was able to overcome the loss of one key player does not necessarily mean they can overcome the loss of two. There are also potential chemistry issues involved when a player is suspended by the coach, as opposed to just being injured.

who still hasn't been able to refine his game. He can defend the perimeter well, but he can also turn the ball over on consecutive possessions ... Purdue is pretty deep this year, so this isn't likely to affect them much.
If anything, it might snap them out of the sleepwalking they've been doing the last three games (with the exception of the second half against Illinois).

Barlow plays 20 minutes a game, I wouldn't call this an insignificant loss by any means.

He's also their worst/least efficient offensive player. They'll miss him on defense, but their offense might be better with him out, dude's a turnover machine.
