OT: Outback Bowl is no longer; meet the Tampa Bay Bowl!
a sign that somebody has lost all concept of self respect, second only to the dunkin donut races...
I originally read that as drunken donut race...
Close enough

I'd be in for that

I clicked on this thread for the bloomin' onions.
But not THAT dude.
Better yet, name it the Tompa Bay Bowl.
I always liked the name. Too bad.
LAME
If Outback agreed on a 6 year sponsorship extension in 2019, why is it surrendering the name? Makes no sense.

Better. It's in Tampa Bay.
Must be low scoring if they're playing it in the bay.
Water polo style.

A turd by any other name still stinks.

Crikey! The Outback Bowl up and carked it. I'm devo. Oh well, it was a dog's breakfast anyway.

You're Devo?
Bob 1 or Bob 2?
March 25th, 2022 at 11:46 PM ^
Are we not men?
March 26th, 2022 at 12:25 AM ^
We are De-vo!

Ha! Whichever one cracks the whip. That’s me.
March 26th, 2022 at 12:17 AM ^
LOL, it's actually Bob 1's brother Mark Mothersbaugh who cracked that whip.

I'll make this short and sweet... how fucking stupid!
March 25th, 2022 at 10:47 PM ^
May we never play in it again, whatever the hell it’s called!

Those Spartans are gonna miss their bloomin onions
March 25th, 2022 at 11:50 PM ^
To be fair...there's quite a few Penn St. fans that look sad in the OP's pic.

It's the Citrus Florida Orange Gator bowl we usually play against the Gators in though right?

For some reason this was one of the few sponsorship bowl names that seemed to work, even though Tampa is not exactly in the Australian desert.
RIP Outback Bowl.
Tampa is home for Bloomin Brands, the parent company of Outback.
I'm catching on to this one. It's fun for a "nothing matters" bowl and there is a B1G tie in.
The Cheribundi Tart Cherry Boca Raton Bowl was another bowl name that just rolled off the tongue and had that certain je ne sais pas quality to it.
March 26th, 2022 at 11:21 AM ^
"Je ne sais pas" is a normal expression, but the idiom is "je ne sais quoi."
March 26th, 2022 at 12:24 PM ^
Thank you!
Right you are. My bad.

Kinda strange that I prefer the corporate-named bowl to whatever this is.
This was the only <Corporate Name> Bowl that the name didn't bother me. Nothing, that I've read, says why Bloomin Brands decided to end sponsorship. Is Outback on hard times financially?
Back in the day, I used to look forward to the bowls. Sadly, with the CFP, the bowls - even the NY6 bowls - are largely meaningless and archaic. They were great back in the day because it was a nice chance to see how the best teams in each conference matches up against each other. But now they are just glorified exhibitions in which the top players often sit out, the fans largely don’t care and the result has no meaning at all. When the playoffs eventually expand the 6 or 8, they should find a way to fold the historically top bowls into the playoff structure and the rest should probably fold. Sad, but that’s the reality.
I think they should call it the "Hall of Fame Bowl." And Michigan should play Alabama.
Wait... What? It's been done????
Also dominated NC State. Derrick Alexander's f'ing awesome punt return, 32 yard back-corner TD pass to Toomer on 4th-&-10, Clarence Thompson pick-6
So outback ended their sponsorship early. This name change is temporary until they get a new title sponsor
