OT - NYE in Orlando
Hey, everyone! I wanted to reach out to my fellow MGobloggers who will be in the Orlando area for the bowl game and see what plans you all have for NYE. A few of my friends and I are flying in on the 31st and are looking for a party/bar to head to for the night. Is there a spot where a lot of UofM fans will be heading? Or maybe a party appropriate for mid 20 year olds looking for a fun night? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and bring on Kareem!!

I actually did this place at turn of century...they had Duran Duran playing at one end of the island and Foreigner at the other. People in stilts walking all around and other crazy disney trying to please adults type of stuff. Was fun/unique.

Me too. There were no jello shooters in giant plastic hypodermic needles left on the "island" by the time we were done.

What bars are you planning on going to? I live in Tampa and went to Ybor once on NYE. Worst time ever. I hope you have a good time though. I'll be at the Dog Saloon on Bay to Bay.

If you enioy live music, Crowbar and New World Brewery are two of the best venues in the Bay Area. Also, Cristino's is without a doubt the best pizza in town.
But yeah, shady things do tend to happen in Ybor.

Wife and I are planning on hitting up Corona Cigar Company for a cigar and to watch Sparty lose to Bama. I'll bring some extra cigars in case any Michigan people are there as well.

Just keep those cigars away from the couches...

Always do! Though hopefully there'll be a nice couch fire in EL around 1130, just in time to ring the New Year in the way it was meant to be.

"A nice couch fire", I would assume there will be multiple fires once Alabama finishes off staee. There will be so many that Roman emperor Nero would give it 2 thumbs up.

Well, this is a pleasant variation on "Where To Watch The Game"...

I'll be there. Look for the guy in the maize and blue. /rimshot
For real though, good question. Was wondering the same thing. Staying at the Courtyard Orlando Downtown. Always looking for another drinking buddy if anyone is staying there or nearby.

And the previous game against Florida, me and a few buddies went here: http://wallstplaza.net/event/new-years-eve-2016-on-wall-st/
Downtown Orlando's Wall St is basically a block party with 7 different bars. You can get drinks and walk around, or try to get into a bar and watch the games. I believe they do fireworks at midnight.

It's not even a full city block, just with bars/restaurants on each side of a very small street. It's a plaza with cool Christmas lights hanging across, with stages and bars outside as well as each location. I'm not sure if the VIP area would have TVs, so I can't recommend that. It opens at 8PM, so I would think if you watch the first game at a bar downtown and then head over a little before 8, you could find a seat at one of the bars.
Hopefully someone who lives in Orlando can tell us more about this location. I would be there this year, but I'm going to the game with family and we have an 18 year old with us (21+ to get in). In terms of being in your mid-twenties, this is probably the best spot in Orlando. You will get a strong local crowd.
Lastly...found their Facebook page, so it will give you a general idea of setup: https://www.facebook.com/wallstplaza

On NYE?? In my mid to late 20's I would have been all over that like stink on shit. I'm sure there's some restrictions in the fine print (alcohol is bottom shelf) but if you're normally paying $7-$8 for a draft beer/ mixed drink/shot at a bar, that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

That's 13 beers!
Impressive, even for mid to late 20s.

I'll be landing around 11PM. Hoping to leave from the airport and go straight to a party, myself, with 3 friends.
Suggestions are welcome!

A group of 4 of us are staying at the Hyatt at the Orlando AIrport. Doubt there's any good bars around there, but I'm guessing that getting to Downtown will be close to impossible without driving, and Uber will be a mess. May just settle for nearby dinner and hotel room midnight, but open to suggestions.
