OT: NY Times Co. purchasing The Athletic

By acquiring it, writers, editors and staff likely don't have to be paid the NYT guild rate.  I expect them to keep many features writers but this allows them to build out a premier sports outlet - if they can make it profitable - that they probably could not in house.
