OT - NHL Ducks assist, Michigan reference

ESPN has a clip of an assist where the player behind the net picks up the puck on his stick, but instead of stuffing for a goal he passes it for an assist.  Announcer says "it looked like he was going to try the MICHIGAN play" which I found outstanding because obvious.

Incredible play.  Maybe it should be called a "Michigan Pass".

There was an actual "Michigan Goal" a few days ago, I forget where, but the highlight broadcasters did refer to it as a "Michigan Goal".

It's a thing.  A permanent thing.

A lot of players have been attempting Michigan goals over the last couple of seasons (and a few have scored), usually it is still referred to as a "Michigan" but some people call it a lacrosse style goal.

It was a very cool assist but ESPN's AWFUL NHL coverage blew it for me.  They had to hyperventilate over it, calling it the greatest goal "of all time".  This in the same season that McDavid scored 1 on 4, not to mention a hundred years of other NHL games.  Plus it's a knock off of Legg and several NHL players who have done the move to score, so nothing too new.  Par for the course for people that can't even get names right in the play by play.  ESPN's hockey coverage back in the 90s was good, now, ugh.
