OT - NBA Draft

Submitted by 615Wolverine on
The past couple of years have been fun for us seeing our beloved Wolverines going early in the first round. I'm glad we don't have anyone in the draft and all of our under class men returned. With that being said it looks like it's going to be a busy night with many trade rumors. My Lakers I believe will set the tone for the rest of the first round. I want them to draft Jahlil Okafor but there are rumors we may go with Russell from Ohio. It will be a fun night, including the Jazz who are shopping our Trey Burke hard. ESPN 7PM, enjoy.

player...however, I never thought he would be considered a 2nd overall draft pick. Hope the Lakers take Okafor to pair with a talented Julius Randle (who lost 30 lbs and looks great) for a young, talented front court...they are cheap because they are on rookie contracts (along with Clarkson). Bring in a free agent this year, wait for Kobe to retire and bring in another free agent or two next year...Lakers future looks promising. That said with Jimmy Buss in charge he will probably draft Kristaps Porzingisat the #2 (which he has considered) or trade away all of our well priced, young talent for some max player malcontent....and the. Sign Kobe to a five year extension.

As much as I hate to say it, Russell just might be the best player in the draft. I'm sure Kobe would be glad to have him passing the ball lol

I know he's a buckeye but D'angelo Russell is going to be a stud in this league. He's gonna be a better shooting Damien Lillard. The Lakers would be foolish to pass him up. In addition, they're looking to add Butler and either Aldridge or Love. A core of Russell, Clarkson, Butler, LA/Love, and Randle looks pretty good

Reportedly Mario Hezonja (dude I want the Pistons to draft) is attempting to "Kobe" his way to the Pistons because he wants to play in Detroit. Sign me up.

I'm also thinking this draft is going to be complete insanity in terms of trades and teams just picking at random. Apparently Frank the Tank is now getting top 5 consideration. Will Cauley Stein's name is getting thrown around as a guy who could get picked super early. DMC might get traded to the Lakers.

I'd be bummed if nothing happened.

As a Pistons fan, I'm praying that Justise Winslow falls to them at #8. Perfect combination of need and talent. My consolation prize is Devin Booker. If trade down, maybe Justin Anderson

SI had the Pistons with Stanley Johnson at the 8th overall. Interestingly, there was some Twitter noise about Mario Hezonja falling to the Pistons, even some active moves to make sure that might happen. Rather intrigued by what might happen in this, our first SVG draft in Detroit.

I hope they get Mario Hezjona. I know there is familiarity between his agent and the Pistons, though I think they'd have to move up to get him and doubt that happens. I believe Winslow will be gone and am not his biggest fan, I think he'll at best he'd be a 3rd best guy on the team type player. He reminds me of Micheal Kidd-Gilchrist. But what do I know. So I have no idea who they'll draft, or who'll be there. #FormAFuckingWall

I think Mudiay could be the best player in the draft. He is awesome, got to see him play in China when I was on vacation. If he was allowed into SMU I bet he'd have all the D'Angelo Russell hype.

Mudiay is one guy everyone has seemingly forgotten. Before he went over to China he was almost universally considered the 2nd best player in the class. He played well over there, got hurt, and now people have been talking about him falling all the way to the Pistons at 8. That's just ridiculous to me. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sixers take him at 3 though.

Ticker on bottom of ESPN says "FSU QB De'Andre Johnson suspended indefinitely for an electrically punching a woman at a Tallahassee bar."

Good old FSU.

Whoever gets him (Kbicks or Lakers) will be quite pleased. I'm thinking though the Pistons stay at 8 and take Johnson. Just a hunch. Kaminsky will be a great value pick for someone just outside of the lottery zone.

Finally someone talking about how Russell is a terrible defender who didn't guard anyone at OSU. They basically hid him on D all year. He's a great offensive player, but I feel like his best case scenario is Damian Lillard. Dame is a terrific offensive player, but he's so horrible defensively he almost has to play at that level to be effective, because point guard in the NBA is so incredibly deep, and you're facing killers every night.

In the first half of the season they hid him with zone, but during the B1G tourney and NCAA he stepped up and was their best defender by far. He has been very candid about not "wanting" to play D in college, and realizes it was silly and that he'll have to in the NBA. He sure has the athletic ability to stick in front of about anyone in the league.

If he turns out to be Damien Lillard, then well he is an All Star PG, NBA defense is kind of a mindset. Everyone is an elite athlete almost.

Ayone think Kristaps Porzingis will be any good? Saw he measured 7'2"

I think a lot of Detroit fans are jaded toward European players because Darko was so amazing. A lot of the stuff I read on him it's either people love him or they hate him, not much middle ground.

He'll be a good player. He loves basketball and works hard (unlike Darko). He's huge, rangy, athletic, moves well, has some range. I would be surprised if at the very least he was not a competent starter. It will take him a few years to build up the strength and to work on extending his range and consistency from deep, but he'll be good.

Seems like Pistons should do ok at 8. I like Kaminsky, but Winslow, Booker, Johnson, someone falling all could be good fits.

Hope Lakers take Okafor. Reminds me of Zach Randolph.
