OT- Most hated teams

Submitted by UMxWolverines on
Ok now that we've listed our favorite teams, now we must list the teams we hate the most. 1) Ohio state buckeyes (no explanation needed) 2) New York Yankees (no so much that they win a lot, which they don't always do anymore, but that they sign all the best players and don't do squat with em, ticks me off) 3) Boston Celtics (probably the team that picked up the most bandwagon fans in one year EVER) 4) Michigan State 5) Notre Lame 6) West Virginia (they won't ever let the rich rod thing go) 7) Colorado Avalanche (used to be a great rivalry with the wings, but not so much anymore) 8) Dallas Cowboys (bunch of arrogant showoffs)

I drafted this list in the previous thread (after listing out my favorites.) Forgive me if I slightly change my mind from that thread but here it goes: 1. OSU 2. Braves 3. Phillies (I had Phillies above the Braves before, but from my childhood, I hated the Braves.) 4. Florida Gators (with Tim Tebow + SEC obnoxiousness) 5. USC Trojans 6. Celtics 7. STL Cardinals

In college: Ohio State Michigan State Virginia Tech Florida State Maryland Tennessee Notre Dame and in the pros: Boston Red Sox New York Yankees Dallas Cowboys Green Bay Packers Minnesota Vikings Washington Redskins Colorado Avalanche There are a bunch of other teams I have anything from a mild distaste to strong aversion to, but a lot of these are conditional (i.e. as long as Bill Belichick is coaching the Patriots, then I can't stand them; any team Brian Burke is GMing) and not worth listing them all. Above are the ones that are unconditional and won't be changing, ever.

Yes, the above. VT and Maryland are a direct result of my UVA affiliation, though I've always been revolted by VT's colors and I probably would have gotten around to hating Maryland eventually - it only takes a run-in or two with their fans to figure that out.

1) Ohio State Football- I hate them more than the Dodgers, but just ever so slightly. 2) Los Angeles Dodgers- Blood rivalry. Best historic rivalry in baseball, period. When I play fantasy baseball, I refuse to have Dodgers on my team. If one of my guys gets traded to LA, I drop them. 3) Notre Dame Football 4) Colorado Avalanche 5) Los Angeles Lakers 6) Oakland Raiders- How anyone in either Oakland or LA can call themselves a fan of this team is beyond me. 7) Florida Marlins 8) The The Angels Angels of Anaheim 9) Anaheim Ducks 10) Utah Jazz

1. OSU (Only ever met one die hard Buckeye fan I could stand) 2. ND (Their sense of entitlement is only outweighed by their coach) 3. Boston sports (Every one of their pro teams has so many bandwagon fans it makes me sick)

Innnnnnnnteresting top 3. I would swap it a little but I like where your head's at with PSU. I have many friends that go there and are extremely obnoxious given their current winning streak against us in football. They are extremely shortsighted. 1. OSU 2. MSU 3. PSU 4. ND 5. Lakers 6. Phillies 7. Big East - Rutgers

I'd be interested to hear some anecdotes that justify making Penn State your most hated team. Having briefly lived in PA myself (though I fortunately moved away before last year's game), I'm sure your gripes are plentiful. Otherwise, isn't hating Penn State more than Ohio Stake akin to hating John Cooper more than Jim Tressel?

Because I have hard time hating random groups of 18-22 year old kids simply because they don't play for my team. 1. Penn State - STOP TRYING TO FIND RIVALS, YOU'RE ONLY PARTIALLY RELEVANT ONCE EVERY THREE YEARS 2. Steelers - part envy, part lifetime of watching them run over my Bengals (along with every other team in the league) 3. Miami (That Miami) - obvs 4. USC - Spoiled children moniker is brainless and cliché, but unfortunately quite apt 5. Anyone who calls him or herself an "SEC fan" rather than a fan of his or her own team to disguise the fact that his or her team is Kentucky.

No no no, sorry. I meant "no message." I responded to poguemahone, read my response, and decided my response was shitty. New Mexico is awesome. I used them in a Dynasty once. After DonTrell Moore won the Heisman with 3000 rushing yards, I successfully recruited his successor, RB Hamsteak Stiltskin, who would go on to win 3 Heismans and leave early for the NFL. Don't worry, I love New Mexico.

College: 1. USC - Mostly because they run two pretty dirty programs, yet nobody has really called them on it yet. I know all teams have skeletons, but usually they stay in closets, not in the front room. 2. MSU - I am proud to be an alumni, but the typical MSU fan can be the most annoying person in the world if they beat UM in anything, even if its quickest to make an ass of himself. 3. Florida - I just do not like Urban Meyer, and the fanbase is rather cocky. 4. OSU - They at least get the rivalries and have some bragging rights. Still think the fans can be immensely stupid when provoked. 5. UM (some of them) - I know; sounds crazy to say it. But at some point, I can see why others hate the late-arriving, ignorant fraternity and sorority sets as well as the "Walmart Wolverines." You do not have to have gone to a school to be a fan, but you better have some strong ties if you are going to be obnoxious about it. Sports in General 1. Boston fans - I actually still like the Patriots, but the Red Sox and Celtics were such bandwagon teams, and their new fans so insufferable, that I cannot objectively watch them on TV anymore. 2. Florida Marlins - This team has two world championships sandwiched between some of the worst teams over the past decade. 3. Yankees - I live amongst them now, and some of them still do not realize that being the "evil empire" is supposed to be a negative. 4. Penguins - Not because they won the cup, but because their fans act like they have always been supporting this team, even though the ownership group has tried to sell them for years because, you know, fans were not attending the games. Now they have Crosby and Malkin, and all-of-a-sudden you cannot walk down the street without running into a XXXXXL jersey lumbering toward you.

1. OSU everything: I just can't stand Ohio State...I get angry just thinking about that crappy school. 2. Vikings: I am from Green Bay and went to school with a bunch of Vikings fans and they drove me crazy. And now that Brett Favre might come back, I hate them even more. Lastly, their main color is purple and they play in a dome! 3. Tim Tebow/Urban Meyer: I can't stand either of them. They are both arrogant in their own way and I will be glad when God is done next year and playing TE in the NFL. 4. Nebraska: I am still bitter about '97 and then when they beat us in the Alamo Bowl a few years ago (pitch the ball to Breaston!). My roommates are Nebraska grads and you would swear its the 90's and Osborne is still rooming the sidelines. They still think they are relevant and it bothers me. I go with them to their Nebraska bar to watch the games and secretly hope they lose. 5. Anyone who thinks the Big Ten is weak in both basketball and football: Last time I checked we had teams in both finals in the last 3 years! 6. Yankees: I'm a Brewers fan and like most MLB teams we have a limited payroll. It's just not fair you can buy playoff appearances. 7. UofA/ASU: First off, with the utilities these schools have at their dispossal, there is no reason they shouldn't be better. Ask their fans though and they always have some excuse for something. Besides UofA basketball they are good at something like once every 3 years and the bandwagon jumpers are amazing! 8. Wisconsin Football fans: I am from Wisconsin so I don't mind the Badgers but their fans and terrible. I went to a game in Madison with my dad a few years ago and we had full beer cans throw at us while walking to the stadium. Plus I love giving my friends crap when they lose. 9. Duke Basketball: Listen Coach K is an amazing coach and what he did with Team USA with special but there is just something about rooting against Duke in the tournament. 10. USC: My feelings towards USC are more jealousy than hate.

College: 1. USC Once you play them a few more times you will understand 2. UF Little wimp of a coach 3. PSU Probably a temp. ranking but they can't keep their mouths shut 4 pOSU Bunch of convicts 5. MSU Bunch of morons 6. UM Abstain 7. UT (tenn.) Loud mouth coach who will get more secondary violations than wins this year 8. WV Weak schedule, and can't stop complaining about what bowl they're in 9. BYU Probably a temp. ranking as well, 2-faced fans hiding behind their religion 10. Stanford Just can't shut their mouths, poor Harbough

1. USC Once you play them a few more times you will understand This statement is an affront to reality USC is the only team against which we have played more than 10 games and have a losing record (that is still relevant -- Cornell being the other) Let me make this perfectly clear -- we have plenty of venom for the ill-begotten sons of Troy. Not least of all for their ridiculous mascot -- a Trojan on horseback?! Good chum, don't be so patronizing, especially when your sense of context is --and let's be perfectly frank about it-- erroneous. This I command!

Playing them every year? Battling them for every west coast recruit? Listening to their blind band wagon fans on any subject concerning your school no matter how mundane? I can see the hate in pOSU for the exact reasons above, but not SUC. Without a regular match-up I don't see it, but I would love to be wrong, my enemy's enemy and all...

Ernis

but what motivates one does not necessarily motivate another. Certainly, you argue well that you have good reasons for the hatred, but justification does not indicate intensity We too lose a seeming boatload of recruits to the beaches of SoCal each year. And their obnoxious effervescence does not radiate exclusively your way... it is a beacon of absurdity that effects the entire nation. Finally, I was at the Rose Bowl in 2007 and that's all I've got to say about it.

Seriously, the Vikings and Twins? Why hate on a small market that hasn't won any sort of championship in 18 years? Granted the Lions and Tigers suck, but lets commiserate and focus our anger on more deserving clubs.

MaizeAndBlueWahoo

June 22nd, 2009 at 7:04 PM ^

Lions division rival, yo. And yes, I actually sort of like the Bears and realize the complete irrationality of it all. I don't care, as in the grand scheme of things this is a remarkably irrational discussion to begin with. Besides, the Packers are in a way smaller market and haven't won a championship in like 13 or 14 years, which once you get up to those numbers is just about the same as 18. And I hate them even more than the Vikings. Packers-Cowboys is the ultimate NFL meteor game. Unless you count them going to a Super Bowl and losing, which I'm guessing you don't cause the Twinkies (who fall somewhere on the mild distaste list I mentioned earlier due to divisional affiliation) have a few division titles of late.
