Cooter can't just leave, he's under contract. Teams would have to get permission from the Lions to even talk to him. Let's get beyond the notion that Gase/Cooter are the only combination that will work. Let's give Quinn the opportunity to make his own decisions. Next month will be interesting! I will be grinding.

I am not sure exactly how many people were thinking like me that there was a distinct possibility that, at some point, we would still be talking about Sheldon White, but permanently in this capacity. That was actually my biggest fear, that they would yet again stay in house and not bring fresh eyes to the organization. As some have said already, this is progress for the Lions and it is refreshing - it will be interesting to see what sort of changes will now come out of Allen Park.

I'm not seeing why this is a good hire.  His background is fairly weak for a General Manager position.  He had a linear 1 track career path with the Patriots...namely talent scouting.  What experience does he have wheeling/dealing, drafting and all the other things a GM must do?

I like that the Lions are getting outside DNA fergodsakes but I think I would want someone with more comprehensive experience.  This guy is going to be doing alot of learning on the job.

stealing from a successful organization is a good first step! Quinn has worked closely with Belichick and Pioli and knows how to run a team. Only questions, as always with the lions, will he get to run this franchise without going through the Ford's! Let Quinn pick his HC and let that HC pick his staff!

Doesnt matter who they hire because that person will be answering to complete buffoons in ownership.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. I suppose, theoretically, if the lions are ever going to be something other than the Lions we all hate to love to hate, then first I must believe in the lions again. I'm hesitant to do so, but this hire tips the balance slightly. A quality hire.

good hire so long as the douchenozzle ford family backs the fuck away. oops. they hired their pool boy as president so I guess this will become another sad chapter. PLEASE SELL THE TEAM TO REAL OWNERS.
