The first two seasons he was going insane on the sidelines every week! He looked like a coach that would jump on a grenade for his guys. This season he looks lifeless and not engaged, and his players are reflections of that. They have zero fire. That's on the coaches. The Defense is responding to Don Brown's fire, and plays with an edge, but the offense looks as anemic as the coaches trying to lead them

The payoff for being one of the highest paid coaches in the game, with THE highest paid staff, is the need for actual wins on the field. Not just hype in the media, or hype in recruiting. Stars are what everyone looks at, especially those who aren't great evaluators! Its a collaborative effort by many outlets to predict how good a player will be. I also disagree on your take as well. Hoke was a good recruiter and evaluator, and had some top 10 classes while here. What he was bad at was developing talent, not evaluating. He was a cheerleader not a coach
