OT: LA Rams fire Jeff Fisher

Submitted by mGrowOld on

This should tone down the rumor flames just a bit don't you think?

EDIT: For anyone who could possibly misunderstand this post I posted a link to an NFL.com article on the Fisher firing.  I DO NOT THINK HARBAUGH IS GOING ANYWHERE.  I thought the sarcasm above was self-evident but apparently not so I'l repeat I DO NOT THINK HARBAUGH IS GOING ANYWHERE.

This is not a rumor thread.  This is a thread about the firing of the Rams head coach.

I believe the rumor started only because the source knew the Rams were going to fire Fisher. This person knew it would be a great chance to troll us.

I've had an article from MSN.com forwarded to me by two M-haters/trolls/friends.... Colin Cowherd mentioned about a half-dozen NFL coaching names and then Harbaugh.  Then a bunch of LA media (some of whom work for the Rams flagship) started re-tweeting the rumor ...which was just something said by Cowherd, someone known to leveage Harbaugh's name at every opportunity.

This is what it will be like now with every NFL opening ...

The tiny buyout in Harbaugh's contract will fuel speculation anytime a decent NFL job opens.  But this is bad for us on multiple fronts.  Best case is we probably have to pay him even more money to stay, worst case is he leaves.  Not good for recruiting when these things swirl.

Yes, Harbaugh has been running around the country recruiting for UM like crazy the past few weeks.  His family is totally settled, wife, kids, parent in Ann Arbor nad he is worshipped and building a program where his mentor di the same...

Yep, he's totally going to uproot all that to chase a mediocre NFL job across the country.

LOL.  In life, timing is everything.

Top trending story on my facebook page is "jim harbaugh"  --  article reads "jim harbaugh to the rams? it's a very real possibility."

ugh

Same dickheads that said he wouldn't ever leave the NFL.. They're the same people who helped me make a few thousand dollars on sports betting sites when harbaugh came to michigan.  (I RARELY bet on sports related things, but maxed that bet out when we had ~18:1)

I just hope it isn't going to influence recruiting.

Enough credit. Everyone always freaks out they'll leave after a bad game, but they rarely do.

They are more long term thinking than us fans are. We freak out about every little thing. They seem to have a good head on their shoulders when it comes to the whole process.

Same article I mentioned above - it's just someone who listened to Colin Cowherd's show and Cowherd saying Harbaugh's name because ....Harbaugh!

The "real possibility" is coming from someone who would desperately, desperately want that to be the case and LA Rams media who work for the Rams radio network.

It's laughable, but annoying and likely to occur every time the NFL has an opening

in talks to take head reporting position at Bolivian Ministry of Bucknut Propoganda.  My source tells me that this rumor will persist indefinitely, as long as I definitely report it.

If he didn't take the Oakland job, why would he take a much more daunting Ram's gig??? I do think he'll give it another shot eventually, probably sooner than most of us would like (7-10 years).... But the only NFL job that gives me legit concern is the Colts. His bond with Luck and the fact that his career is just beginning. Frank Gore... And a division ripe for domination. If that was the team gracing these headlines, then I'd be not so confident.
