OT: Jaguars selling $12.5K poolside cabana seating at Everbank Field
What happened to just going to the game and watching the game without all this other extra stuff? This is rather dumb.
You can put your HDTV by your own, private pool in Florida and not have to pay five figures per game.
I'd say in the north endzone way up at the top. Since we're hemorrhaging students, we can afford to sacrifice some seats to accommodate the pool.
And in October/November they switch it over to a hot tub.
^
Yes!!!! This!
How has this not find it's way to the front page yet?
I don't think it is that dumb. They weren't selling tickets before, so now they can sell fewer, but more expensive tickets to the cabanas.
If I had the money I would definitely prefer to watch a game in the Florida heat in a pool.
I think it's pretty cool.
$12.5K? You saved your fingers one digit rather than just typing "$12,500." Does the "k" make it seem like more money?
I really don't mean to be a smartass. I just don't understand.
Just like when people write "don't." It is the same amount of characters to just write "do not." Just write "do not," right? I just want to tell these people "C'mon, man" ... er ... "Come on, man!"
I regularly am proud to associate with people who say "don't" in casual conversation. People can and do say "don't" in normal contexts without sounding strained, off-putting or pretentious.
If I meet a person at a bar who says "12.5K" in the middle of a normal conversation, I will likely choose not to associate with such person in the future. That is my bias.
BTW: My point was more aimed at the original article for using such an artificial structure than at the OP, who merely repeated the phrase.
It is just like this one guy who I hang out with who says, "Bee-Tee-Double-You" when we talk. I bet he writes "BTW" all the time as well. I swear ... these people.
...and while we're talking about the original article, did you see the part in the body of the article when he wrote:
One section of those cabanas (which you can see above and in bigger form here) are selling for $12,500 per game. Well, technically they're selling for $250 a seat (which includes all you can eat and drink and a ticket for the game) and each cabana hosts 50 people. With four cabanas available, that's a pretty nice little chunk of income ($50,000) for the Jaguars from a pretty awesome little private party they'll host eight times a year.
This writer is just all over the map. There's ... er ... there is no way I'd ... er ...I would ever associate with this Will Brinson character.
That is luxury and actually kind of cool. This is the WORST SEAT EVER:
(I know. Cool story, bro.)
Corner of the EZ 14 rows up. Unfortunately a metal boom that a camera was on was in my corner. Any action that took place near our EZ I had to warch on the big screen in the opposite EZ.
I think this is a great idea. I have sat in the pool in the D-Backs stadium and had a great time.
There might be worse ideas then pool side seating...
Just sayin
untie
ESPN Goal Line is the closest equivalent:
because it's going to be tough to cover cabana's with a Jaguars tarp when they don't sell either. Grandstands are much easier to cover
They used the tarps in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid blackouts. This year, they're blacking out all the games, at the request of their fans.
This is FANtastic.
I suppose the pool could allow people to avoid those annoying long lines for the bathroom.
It is also $12,500 for the entire cabana which hold 50 people. So $250 per person for all you can eat and drink to watch a game poolside doesn't seem that outrageous.
You can pretty much get every CFB game you want when you factor in that there are games on ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, CBSSN, BTN, NBCSN, FS1, FSN throughout the day.
"The Jaguars also added "Kickoff Club Tables," which are PRIVATE, four-person tables you can purchase at $350 a seat, including premium parking and all you can eat/drink. 21 tables on the West Club section and 19 tables on the East Club section are available, all between the 20's."
That's actually a rather neat idea as well, in my opinion, to have tableside seating somewhere within the stands like this. I could see that being relatively popular for entertaining clients or something of that nature if a company didn't have a suite, or for folks who don't mind paying for their own little corner with a decent view. The only rub might be that the view is a Jaguars game.
They could probably get more money if the event timing didn't line up with a Jacksonville Jaguars game.
They can do no wrong in my book.
Denard's smile = Priceless:
Call me an old, out of touch grump pants. I hate what all sporting events are becoming: wow factors and a place just to hang out.
Idiot America
...isn't "hanging out" pretty old school in itself? That actually implies being engaged in the context.
These days it's all all about tossing up a façade via a twitter selfie about how cool & rich you are for being at the big game while all the losers are reduced to following at home.
Sigh...when I think about the evolution of sports over the past 8 years, I almost wish that I died at the same time that Bo did. It's almost like he could see the future...and knew it was time.
THIS.
I cannot stand when people I go to games with bring their phones in (unless it's only to call to meet up after the game). You don't need to send text messages, tweet or post "selfies", ESPECIALLY during the game. No one cares what your thoughts are on the game while you're at the stadium unless your name is Brian or Ace.
You paid to go to the game. Watch the game. Do all that extra crap at home.
This is coming from an 18 year old who is disgusted at how attached this generation is to their cell phones. Luckily, I still have control of my brain/life and can turn the phone off the whole day and enjoy the game and tailgate.
You are going to be a great old man.
enough to pay 12 grand to sit by a damn pool and watch a game on TV played in a stadium sitting right behind them.
Let them. They deserve to be parted with their money
"What happened to just going to the game and watching the game without all this other extra stuff?"
I guess you've never watched the NFL before...
