OT - Heat take down Bucks to gain commanding 3-0 series lead

Submitted by Indy Pete - Go Blue on September 4th, 2020 at 9:12 PM

Heat win 115-100

By my count, Heat ended the game on a 35-9 run.  The Heat were trailing by 12 to start the 4th quarter.

Jimmy Buckets has 3 points.
Juwan’s project, Bam Adebayo, had 20 pts and 16 boards on 7/8 shooting.
Our guy Duncan had 6 pts, 4 boards and 2 dimes

The Bucks had the best record in the NBA by several games. The Heat are the 5 seed. Quite a run thus far...

The entire Bucks team (coaching staff included) choked in the fourth quarter. No energy, no plan, no nothing. George Hill is a good player, but when he is your best option you’ve got problems. Lopez and Giannis chucking up threes? That’s coaching malpractice. I know Lopez can shoot the three, but come on, he’s 8 foot tall. Feed him in the post. Get the Heat in foul trouble.

I don’t know if XM is going to check this post. I thought of him when LeBron freaked out about being called a Pippen. ?

I get that Pippen was a #2, but I it's not like calling someone a Draymond Green role player.

Lebron is obviously greater than Pippen, but Pip is arguably the greatest perimeter defender in modern NBA history - players like MJ, Kobe, and Grant Hill have as said as much. Pippen also finished 3rd in MVP voting the year Jordan sat out, proving he was a great all around player in his own right.

I always thought Lebron was a better version of Magic and Pippen - two of the original point forwards from the 80s and 90s. The Lebron to MJ comparisons are dumb - two totally different players, and Lebron will never be the closer that MJ was.

Yes he was. A lot of shot attempts.

All kidding aside, Jordan and Kobe both had a confidence that they should be the ones with the ball. And it was probably correct most of the time. I’m not sure what it is about Lebron, but he doesn’t exude that confidence. His personality is different. And that’s ok too. But I think that’s why people generally put MJ and even Kobe ahead of Lebron. That killer confidence is probably why MJ was so successful in the finals.

But who cares, I don’t/didn’t like any of them. I’m a pistons fan.

Pretty amazing what the Heat just did in that 4th quarter outscoring the Bucks 40-13.  Coach Bud is really getting exposed this series.  Just insane rotations and his stars aren’t even playing 40 minutes in a must win game.

Totally agree. Coach Bud is getting exposed this series, no flexibility or structure to the offense.  They run almost no screen and roll or off ball cuts.  Giannis has also been exposed by forcing him to the top of the key and just building a wall of defenders.

Terrible coaching and letting their best player's weaknesses (jump shots) get completely exposed.

Duncan has had a pretty bad series after an excellent first round

Crazy to think what the scores of these games would be if he was shooting anywhere close to his NBA average

They're defending the shit out of the 3ball from what I understand so regardless of his numbers not being great they are extending defense to mark him which is allowing Butler, Dragic, et. al. to get theirs and win these games.  In other words, I wouldn't say he's had a bad series, he's out there doing what he's supposed to.

I hear you. He is probably sincerely despondent. I am a Pacers fan, and the quality of the Heat in that series knocked my socks off. They have a lot of players who can create their own shot. They have numerous extremely accurate 3 point shooters. They play impeccable defense.  They have the intangible chemistry and desire. They are clearly well-coached. I think that team deserves a lot of credit, and hopefully more is made of their success than the Bucks’ failings.

Just a great run by the Heat.  This feels so much like your typical Beilein team that just executes it's offense.  I do wonder if the lack of crowd hurts some teams more than others; feels like the Bucks really seem lost.

Completely unexpected round 2 results at the moment to me. If I were a betting man I’d go all in on the clippers but Houston as been showing some real grit and this Miami team is one of the best-coached, cohesive teams we’ve seen in some time.

Pretty dramatic going from the heat/bucks to Lakers/Rockets. The Heat play hard and are a great team. The Lakers and Rockets are super iso heavy with all their superstars. Lots of standing around waiting for LeBron, harden or Westbrook to make their move.

I always thought Jimmy Butler was supposed to be a malcontent, but somehow he's the perfect team player on the Heat, and almost seems like a coach on the court.
