OT: Disturbing vid coming out from Fair Oaks dairy (Harbaugh former spokesman)

Submitted by Snake Eyes on June 13th, 2019 at 11:27 PM

Fair Life milk had the coach in commercials a couple years back.

Now there are accusations of abusive treatment to their cows and unsanitary practices.

Warning: video is upsetting.

And even if they didn't Fair Oaks requires reporting of any abuses as a part of employment so they can fire anyone doing such things. These people who were hired on could have just reported what they saw and it would have been taken care of but instead they just filmed and allowed the abuses to continue (again assuming they weren't the ones doing it themselves).

Just read the company statement on it. Three of the individuals were fired while they were filming because other employees turned them in and a 4th wasn't because no one had turned that individual in yet. If the people filming these incidents had turned them all in earlier (as they were supposed to based on the company's policy) these people would have been fired earlier.

So instead of the company hiring people who actually might have reported these incidents they ended up hiring two people who were complicit because they were more interested in creating a news story.

I have no affiliation with Fair Oaks I had just stopped by their facility in Indiana a couple of days before to do a quick tour and wanted to make sure I hadn't just supported a supremely shitty company.

Allegations about the two having an actual hand in the abuse is just Facebook stuff that may or may not be true but there's still their failure to act.

When you get a chance watch the documentary 'Food Inc.' on Netflix (if it's still there).  It documents some of the abuses in the industrial food system.  What's happening at Fair Oaks is probably accurate, but it's not like they're the only ones, this is rampant.  I don't consume milk, but I buy cheese and meat from local grass-fed cattle from small farmers/ranchers in the area.  A bit more expensive, but better food.

and people wonder why we farm.  i would avoid what i call the 'industrial/agricultural complex' at all costs.  some of the mgobloggers have been to our place.  our calves come running to us when its bottle feeding time.  that video was bad ju-ju.

we are the 'small farmer' in your mention above:  grass fed livestock, pastured poultry, true free range birds, no hormones, no vaccines, no antibiotics, no pesticides.

It has not been even slightly debunked. What the fuck are you talking about? Go read some of the articles about the investigation-- the video was just the tip of the iceberg. The point is Fairlife, unlike many companies, specifically held themselves out (it's right their on their packaging) as a company that goes the extra mile to treat animals humanely.

It's 100% clear that their claims were strictly marketing and not reality.

Three of the people in the videos had already been fired because other employees reported them. A 4th had not yet been fired because no one had reported yet... the people who had been filming could have reported and gotten them all fired earlier but they didn't so they could get their video. Seems debunked to me.

" It's 100% clear that their claims were strictly marketing and not reality."

So... actually... what happened here 100% supports the company's mission to treat animals humanely.  The are so invested in treating their animals well, in fact, that they fired people who did not report the poor treatment.

That’s what you take away from 37 consecutive cow puns? Listen I don’t care much for cheese jokes, but you sir, are extremely lactose intolerant. And frankly I won’t hear of it!

The cows are of the highest standards, award winners even, definitely out standing in their fields.
