OT: Disturbing vid coming out from Fair Oaks dairy (Harbaugh former spokesman)
This is a nothing-burger as far as JH is concerned.
Harbaugh was endorsing them, I'm shocked, how dairy!!!
/thread. Shut it down.
Nevermind - got beaten to the “milked” pun
Edit: f it can't get the damn thing to work on mobile.
This video has already been largely debunked. Two of the people on it work for a Vegan activist group and got themselves hired at Fair Oaks.
Just because the people who made the video had a motive to make the video when hired does not mean that what the video shows is false.
It also doesn't mean it's accurate.
The point isn't that they had a motive to make the video, they had a motive to fake the video.
Allegedly the activists who got themselves hired were the ones committing the abuses in the video as well as filming it.
And even if they didn't Fair Oaks requires reporting of any abuses as a part of employment so they can fire anyone doing such things. These people who were hired on could have just reported what they saw and it would have been taken care of but instead they just filmed and allowed the abuses to continue (again assuming they weren't the ones doing it themselves).
Wow they believe in their cause so much that they would go against all they believe to fake others into outrage against their enemies? Fucking losers.
From what I read about them their goal is to stop meat consumption entirely. So I guess these small abuses can be excused in the larger context of the cruelty of eating meat? I dunno this whole thing is super odd to me.
Link to the allegations, then. I've linked to a comprehensive article supporting the claims, and those are easy to find. It's a Michigan-based farm so I'm not surprised there might be some folks with vested interests in the farm who are also Michigan fans and might even be lurking this board...
Just read the company statement on it. Three of the individuals were fired while they were filming because other employees turned them in and a 4th wasn't because no one had turned that individual in yet. If the people filming these incidents had turned them all in earlier (as they were supposed to based on the company's policy) these people would have been fired earlier.
So instead of the company hiring people who actually might have reported these incidents they ended up hiring two people who were complicit because they were more interested in creating a news story.
I have no affiliation with Fair Oaks I had just stopped by their facility in Indiana a couple of days before to do a quick tour and wanted to make sure I hadn't just supported a supremely shitty company.
Allegations about the two having an actual hand in the abuse is just Facebook stuff that may or may not be true but there's still their failure to act.
Soy would they do such a thing??!
When you get a chance watch the documentary 'Food Inc.' on Netflix (if it's still there). It documents some of the abuses in the industrial food system. What's happening at Fair Oaks is probably accurate, but it's not like they're the only ones, this is rampant. I don't consume milk, but I buy cheese and meat from local grass-fed cattle from small farmers/ranchers in the area. A bit more expensive, but better food.
I consume milk because that shit is so god damn delicious. The typical vernacular is "drink milk", i.e. "I do/don't drink milk."
and people wonder why we farm. i would avoid what i call the 'industrial/agricultural complex' at all costs. some of the mgobloggers have been to our place. our calves come running to us when its bottle feeding time. that video was bad ju-ju.
we are the 'small farmer' in your mention above: grass fed livestock, pastured poultry, true free range birds, no hormones, no vaccines, no antibiotics, no pesticides.
It has not been even slightly debunked. What the fuck are you talking about? Go read some of the articles about the investigation-- the video was just the tip of the iceberg. The point is Fairlife, unlike many companies, specifically held themselves out (it's right their on their packaging) as a company that goes the extra mile to treat animals humanely.
It's 100% clear that their claims were strictly marketing and not reality.
Three of the people in the videos had already been fired because other employees reported them. A 4th had not yet been fired because no one had reported yet... the people who had been filming could have reported and gotten them all fired earlier but they didn't so they could get their video. Seems debunked to me.
Lol so your initial argument was this never happened. Now you're saying it's okay that it did happen because they were fired... Ok bud.
From Merriam-Webster:
"Debunk" itself often suggests that something is not merely untrue, but also a sham; one can simply disprove a myth, but if it is "debunked," the implication is that it was a grossly exaggerated or foolish claim.
" It's 100% clear that their claims were strictly marketing and not reality."
So... actually... what happened here 100% supports the company's mission to treat animals humanely. The are so invested in treating their animals well, in fact, that they fired people who did not report the poor treatment.
Blaming Jim is udder nonsense
You're right, that is no way to teat our coach!!!
I suspect Coach Harbaugh will want to skim the raw video before issuing a condensed statement. Assuredly, he'll want the whole story to come out.
Well we finally know why Jim puts Gatorade in his cereal!
To quote Bart Simpson, "Don't have a cow man!"
Ice cream every time I see a bad pun
Besides, I hear the farmer is out standing in his field.
Harbaugh is less than 2% of the problem. This is candy ass stuff...
I'm not watching the video, am content to just skim the comments
If you do decide to watch the video, do not blink, as the disturbing scene will pasteurize.
You should watch the whole thing.
....yeah don't be a wuss and curdle.
Don't worry, it's pretty cheesy anyway.
It's not gouda.
It's pronounced "Gow-duh," as in Gouda, the Dutch city where the cheese originated. Don't feel bad--everybody else makes the same mistake, and I did as well before I was corrected while living in Europe.
That’s what you take away from 37 consecutive cow puns? Listen I don’t care much for cheese jokes, but you sir, are extremely lactose intolerant. And frankly I won’t hear of it!
The cows are of the highest standards, award winners even, definitely out standing in their fields.
Dork
Don't you mean quark?
After reading this thread I'm headed for the cottage this weekend while this dairy makes cheese!
I also camembert to see it, so I plan to steer clear of it.
Moooooo-ve on. Nothing to see here.
Sparty fans will milk this for all it's worth.
Yeah UMMSUgraddad, it’s hard to believe moo u fans haven’t hoofed it over here to graze and that none of them have wheyed in yet with any choice cuts on us, this would be a prime opportunity for them, surprised herds of them aren’t here displaying their usual angust.
Don’t have a cow about the JH connection. Animal abuse on the other hand should mooove you to take action in protest
It would be unfair to have a beef with Harbaugh regarding this.
