OT: In depth interview with Brett McMurphy
I debated creating another thread on the topic for a few reasons. 1) I'm terrified of the new editor. 2) I'm guessing it's embedded in an existing thread. 3) It's probably a few posts down the board, and I just missed it.
Those caveats aside, this is a really good interview with McMurphy. No new provocative information, but fascinating insider account of the journalistic process, his employment and firing at ESPN, publishing on Facebook, etc. For people with an interest in that element, I recommend listening.

Did he talk about giving her 6 figures for her story? Asking for urban.
11W is focusing on the fact that he had no direct evidence that specifically shows Urban definitively knew.
Hanging by a thread over there, and the going wisdom is that he’ll be suspended 3-4 games.
The direct evidence won’t get him. It’s the statement he made at media saying he didn’t know, and there is no evidence either that he did the right thing by reporting the situation....cough, title IX
11W is also a place where I saw a couple of people cite the Duke Lacrosse scandal as a sign that this is all a sham, and they were heavily upvoted. I'm not saying MGoBlog wouldn't have an equal number of dumb-ass rationalizations, but they are 100% trying to miss the forest for the trees.

I know it's been said that every fan base has its idiots, but the ratio is different from team to team. In Ohio you could argue that the majority are delusional uneducated trolls. In their minds losing is worse than tainted success, and their entire history has the aroma of taint.

Idk man OSU fans seem to be taking this in stride comparatively to MSU fans who went full-on victim blaming mode

Upvote (if such a thing has any meaning with static points) for the last half sentence
You don't need a smoking gun to show that he knew, you just need his words and a brain. He said in the presser that he and his wife counseled the Smiths after the 2009 incident, and that the Meyers and the Smiths were close. The Smiths got divorced in 2016, with the 2015 incidents as a major cause. Is it at all believable that, after all of the counseling, and the relationship that Urban had with both Smith and Earle Bryce, that Urban heard that the Smiths got divorced and never asked why?

Don't forget the text where Shelly Meyer told Kelly directly, "I need to tell Urban," and Kelly said, "Tell Urban." I guess she forgot to hit send on the text that said, "I told Urban," and by the time she realized it the moment had passed.

Sorru Courtney not Kelly. I don't know who Kelly is. This is how rumors start.

I find it pretty damning that OSU reacts to his reporting Smith's arrest in Florida as a "personnel matter and we don't comment on those". Later that day he reports the 2015 incident and less than an hour later Smith is fired. I'm thinking the athletic department thought they had plausible deniability based on it happening in Florida, then it blew up in their face and they had to take action.
