Will admit to have never been to NeoPapali’s, or any other B1G choice (other than Blaze).
Also, check out Alabama. Anyone have thoughts?

I find pizza snobs to be incredibly annoying. Of course there are tons of places that are better than the chain pizza places, but if you mock and ridicule anyone who ever picks ups Dominos or Pizza Hut on the way home because it’s not real pizza like “insert obscure pizza place from my home town” you’re a pizza snob and a dork.
Not finding a ton of snobs here, just people interested in the best pies. Calling people dorks, though; that's certainly creative. Pizza Hut, in my experience, can be downright bad; Dominos. . . okay in a pinch, but the people behind them. . . bums.

OK, but even unpretentious people know that Pizza Hut sucks. Worse than Little Caesars.
I woulnd't go so far as to say Pizza Hut is worse than Little Sleazers (sic), but it's definitely something you have to consume within the first 30 minutes of getting it
Who doesn't like a Hot and Sweaty from LC?
Just to be clear, if you live in a big city with good pizza or make it yourself and you get Dominos or Pizza Hut you are a tasteless assclown and a dork.
^Pizza snob.
You don’t have to live in a big city to find good pizza. Lots of small town pizza places are great.
When someone says something is pretentious or snobby I immediately think they are a rube. "Someone appreciates something I don't understand so they are a snob."
And obviously there is good pizza outside of big cities, but they aren't Dominos. Dork.

Your point is fair, especially since their is no accounting for different palettes and tastes. Even I like Dominos, Pizza Hut, and Caesar’s, but it is really hard to say that any of the chains compare favorably with the recent phenomenon of haute cuisine pizzerias. It might only be a popularity contest, but it is almost a consensus that the biggest thing going for the chains is consistency rather than top-flight quality that rivals the best pizzerias, even if some of the chains do offer some good quality food.

Neopapalis is the correct opinion here. Ten bucks gets you a good size. Used to see Dylan Larkin in there and especially Andrew Copp.
I always thought chuck e cheese had an above average salad bar. At least the one in Rochester.
I love Cottage Inn pizza on a cold Saturday night after a game.
The pizza at Dominicks is pretty good too w/ sangria.
If you are into doughy, Pizza Hut-style, and/or are ignorant of non-chain pizzerias then Cottage Inn is fine. The ambiance is probably the nicest thing about Cottage Inn. Otherwise, pretty much every place else blows it away. Buddy’s is of course the standard for Detroit-style. That said it’s really hard to beat the New Haven pizzerias. They are usually considered the best even by those who tenaciously hold to their local favorites out of hometown pride.
Antico (Ga Tech) is really good.
Yale’s 4th best would probably be better than anyone else’s #1 if they were on the list.
I'm sure you can get good pizza in New Haven, but c'mon. . . as if you had any idea what the pies were like in all these towns.
Well shit, phony elite know nothingism was definitely not my intent.
New Haven, CT often has multiple restaurants in the top 10-15 pizzas in the nation, so odds are that they would be better than just about anything on a college town pizza list.
Sorry to offend ?♂️
**Thank you for editing out your comment calling my comment “phony elite known nothingism”. No hard feelings ?
I agree with you and not to be pedantic but New Haven is a college town, unless people don’t consider Yale to have enough bonafides.
New Haven is pretty much famous for two things: Yale and Pizza. If you don’t believe it check the articles on best pizza places in the U.S. Sorry, but cities like Omaha, Tempe, Baton Rouge, et al typically don’t have pizzerias that consistently score highly. Not my opinion, this from people who really know pizza.
It’s not really Tempe I suppose, but Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix is world class
Pepe's in New Haven is the shit.

up vote for Antico's in Atlanta - it is very good!
I'm just glad they didn't pick Backroom for Michigan. That place went to shit.
In fairness, their niche market is the 3-5am heavily, heavily intoxicated college student, and they charged $1 per slice. I think they can be forgiven for not creating the best possible pie. Or maybe the last time you went you found yourself outside the target demographic?
Back in my UG years (mid-late 90s), I would get a slice for lunch frequently and I thought it was damn good. It was $1/slice back then, and still a $1/slice now. Something had to give (i.e. quality).
Pizza Toro in Durham (Duke) is totally accurate. I don't love the restaurant as it's tiny and too hip for my comfort, but the pizza is really excellent (Neopolitan-style). They also have Abita root beer on tap, which is a big plus for me (a non-drinker). I more often go to Pompieri, which is the same style of pizza, almost as good, and has a much more relaxed vibe- like a kids assemble their own pizza night (pre-Covid). Durham is a great food town these days.
I also commented elsewhere (I did grad school at Duke). Agree with everything you've said.
Satchel's in Gainesville is worth the drive from the Tampa area for the ambiance alone.
This is correct. I was just getting ready to post the same thing. Satchel's is delicious !
Went to Mizzou, can confirm Shakespeare's
Can confirm Duke's is accurate and stellar. Can also confirm Vandy's is not even top 5 in Nashville IMO.
Red Zeppelin in Baton Rouge LA is real good, good wings also. When I go back to LSU I will try the place they recommend.
I will have to try some of these in my college football travels.

Don’t knock CC, they have some damn fine pies
This list seems like that map of "America's Favorite Fast Food Chains" that circulated on the internet for a while as troll-bait, where "Jollibee" was Michigan's favorite fast food. (It's a Fillipino fast food chain; there isn't one in Michigan). I suspect the pizza list-maker could have done better by just taking #1 from the Yelp pizza listing for each city.
As for Madison, I guess I understand why they picked Ian's, but Ian's is really just store-brand NYPD (I say that as an NYPD devotee since it's opening in 1996 or 1997). The best pizza in Madison is Salvatore's.
My favorite pizza in Madison is Greenbush Bar. I’ll have to try Salvatore’s next time over that way.
Both of my sons went to Wisconsin and each lived close to Greenbush. As I recall, they both said good things about it, but I don't remember anything specific. My younger son, a senior, currently lives just on the other side of Regent from Greenbush, and he's the one who took me to Salvatore's (technically, "Salvatore's Tomato Pies," even though I don't think they have the Jersey-style tomato pie).
Agree on Salvatore's for Madison.
But, wow, is that fast food map hilarious. Any Nebraskan worth his corn would go to Runza before Taco Bell.
I don't know if this is trollish or just bad. The Southeast and West Coast looks accurate. And I cannot even make out what that is in Colorado.
Something tells me that Jollibee is not the favorite chain of Michiganders. Everyone knows that would be Big John Steak & Onion (I've never been there - they tell me it's nice).
Thanos Lamplighter
And when you went to pick it up, you might see Bill Frieder buying a beer for a recruit.
Backroom and Bells were it for me back in the 90's in A^2

I vaguely recall during that era bells had a Tuesday night special where larges with a couple toppings were like $2 delivered or something? I think you had to buy a full price 2 liter of soda though so total bill with tip approached $10. Loss leader to gain new clientele who might buy on days other than Tuesday perhaps
I'd go for Silvio's, Anthony's, or Pizza House before Neopapolis. But, to each their own.
Giordano's at Northwestern is yummy. Blaze Pizza at Maryland is pretty good.
South Carolina's sounds about right.
Lived in Tempe and ate Big Jimmys every week. Probably the 5th best but was the cheapest. $5 large pepperoni
Didn’t know it was gone. Bells was cool. The real pizza I miss is a dollar slice from Backroom after the bars. That was the best. The saddest I have ever been, (not really) was dropping a slice face down walking back to my house...
