OT: aOSU Moving all Classes Online for the Rest of the Month due to Coronavirus

Submitted by A Lot of Milk on March 9th, 2020 at 10:55 PM

Not released to the public yet, but OSU students have received an email from their president that the university will be moving all lectures, exams, etc. online until the end of the month because of newly confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Ohio. They are currently on spring break until next Monday.

No OSU students or faculty have been confirmed to have the virus, but looks like they're taking steps to prevent that from happening.

OK, then you "strongly encourage" everyone to go home but allow an exception for those who can't.  You can achieve social distancing that way.

It just seems odd to forbid them from spending a couple hours a day in classrooms (which can be sanitized at night) but then have no issue with them living packed together in their germy dorms.

My son goes to a juco and they’re considering cancelling classes and maybe even some scheduled baseball games. I’m in Long Island for business starting Sunday. I do work in the healthcare field, mostly nursing homes. I usually just drink crown and flush out a cold or flu with coors light, but this shits got me a little freaked out. Especially given DTW is my home base and can’t imagine what JFK will be like. My last trip out they were screening international passengers.

Ohio Gov. DeWine, just recommended there be no spectators allowed for indoor sports activities, including HS, College and Pro.

The OHSAA is limiting spectators at the boy regional tournament sites, the girls state final and the wrestling finals this week/weekend.

So today I was asked to self-isolate for 14 days.  5 out of the 7 people who have COVID-19 in North Carolina work in the same building with me and I've had contact with most of them and a lot of contact with people who have had a lot of contact with them.  So yeah, I'm at home.  The site is pretty much limited to operations personnel at this point.  We're expecting a lot more cases.  Also, I feel like shit today.

My son is at a small liberal arts school in Ohio. The governor has asked all Ohio schools to do the same. My son's school is going to the "online learning model" as they call it. They are requesting all students leave the dorm as of this Friday, and take their belongings with them, in case this continues through the semester. My son plays baseball and there is some talk that the athletes in season will be able to stay and play their games, which we're hoping for.
