Lions may have lucked out since the Raiders grabbed him. They are historically as inept as the Ford Family.
I am as clueless as Holmes. I just don’t get paid lots of money to be so.
The Eagles are Georgia of the North, the Lions are Iowa...
Next pick for the Lions is the 17th of the round (48 total)
I'm feeling a panic attack coming on, lol
I think many folks forget that Holmes was college scouting director before being a GM. He knows his players. Lions were only team that had all of it's draft picks on the roster last year.
LaPorta >>> Mayer
Detroit literally has a big TE hole now filled.
LaPorta is like the 2nd best TE in Iowa history, that's gotta be good, right?
Save your time, everyone here is a better scout and evaluator from those amateurs.
But seriously, agreed, he is an elite scout director. Aaron Donald would agree, and not much to bitch about in his two Lions drafts.
I'm pretty sure everyone drafted last year is still on the team, that's rare...
I'm not happy with a first-round RB under almost any circumstances, and I feel like Miller is a reach as well, so I have reservations.
But I will concede that when the argument is made that they "got their guys" there is a track record of the team playing with real character and improving over the course of the season. It's a good thing for any team and certainly not always something seen in this franchise. So there is, at the very least, *some* reason to offer some benefit of the doubt.
Also if you accept the argument that RB and LB are draft needs that don't have deep classes and something like CB *is* a deep class there is at least some sense there.
Still, I don't think you take an RB that high.
Another head scratcher, that’s 3 for 3. I’ll suspend judgment and give benefit of doubt to Holmes as he’s earned it, but really trying us here.
was similarly upset when Yzerman took Seider out of nowhere and that turned out very well.
Lions next pick is the QB from Stanford. Lets get it boys!
At least half of these fans at the draft have no clue about who their team is drafting.
Trade: Loins on the clock
Oh Snap! The Lions moved up 10 spots for someone!
Now let's go to a commercial...
Brian Branch.
Seeing the little blub they showed highlighting him as a pick of the Lions looked pretty good! I feel happy again!
Oh man, he sounds like he has a chip on his shoulder, oh yeah!
Alright! We're Alabama of the North!
Detroit Crimson Hawkeyes
I am hoping Lions get the DT Benton from Wisconsin.
Edit DP for DD. . What did the Lions give up to move up to get Branch?
Username checks out, lol
Pick 152 (fifth round)
Good trade.
i'm finally on board with a lions' pick
Same here. First pick of theirs I like.
I’m liking the Branch pick. Keep the momentum going now.
I think Dan Campbell is influencing the Lions picks. He looked pumped up beyond belief when they selected Gibbs. All of these players seem like Dan Campbell type of players - strong work ethic and good teammate types.
I think best available should play a bigger role but perhaps they know something I don't.
I think John Dorsey is influencing these picks as well. Every one of them is a “football guy” that the analytics crowd would question
They’ve got one more pick at 55….and then none until the 5th round, if I’m reading the NFL site properly.
Barring trade that is correct.
Yes, next pick after 55 should be 159. Unless they trade Swift and pick up something.
Things are beginning to roll right now...
Charbonnet joining Kenneth Walker
Zach Charbonnet!
Says remarkably good things about Michigan that Charbonnet wound up fulfilling his promise as an excellent college RB and gets drafted in the second round... after transferring away from Michigan... and nobody minds because he transferred because Michigan had better guys in front of him and he couldn't get on the field.
(Edit: And congrats to him! Deserved and genuinely happy for him.)
Yeah, he was a legitimately good RB who was going to be a third option on the last two teams. Sorta crazy.
I think the only thing we can be sure of with the 55th pick is he's going to be a Hawkeye or a Crimson Tide player...
Oh wait, make that the 63rd pick! I guess we made a trade with the Chiefs...no one told the network and they went to commercial anyways...
Curious to see how high Turner goes. Bengals could use a CB but wonder if they would take him after taking Dax last year.
Lions trade with the Chiefs, back to 63.
Pick 55 traded for pick 63!? Soooo Lions
Something else has got to be involved with this trade...
KC gets 55 and 194 from the Lions for 63, 122 and 249.
My guess is they wanted Tuli.
O'Cyrus Torrence
Nevermind...
Gotta be approaching DJ Turner time.
I don't know who the Lions want, but the Eagles will draft them at 62.
Schooooooooòooon!
Schoon to the Cowboys. They love the Wolverines!
Schooooooooooooooon!
Schoon to Dallas!
