Open Thread (let's just talk)

It has been a very slow day on the board and understandably so. Let's talk about (almost) anything.

saw Star Wars yesterday at Birch Run 1:10.  I enjoyed it.  Husband feels you need a new plot, not just New Hope again.  I say who cares, it was entertaining, and people go.  Merry Christmas or Happy whatever you celebrate.  Every day is a good day.  Have fun at the Citrus Bowl!  So jealous!  Skiing on the 27th, hope there's snow!!

I half suspect Episode VII will be judged the worst Star Wars of all 20 years from now. This is coming from a guy who liked the prequels, so take it with a grain of salt, but I think remaking A New Hope with bits of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi thrown in was incredibly short-sighted. I'm disappointed in Disney for choosing J.J. Abrams, who made a movie that is nothing more than glorified fan fic.

I wonder if we'll ever find out what Lucas's original plot for the sequels was.

If you think that VII will be viewed as WORSE than the three prequels at any point in time, you are crazy. It was obviously very reminiscent of IV, but hardly just some kind of "remake".

got over the traumatic sight of teddy bears crushing a space-age military using stone-age technology in Return of the Jedi. That is where my suspension of disbelief came to an end. Go to the British Museum and look at all the nice things not properly belonging to Great Britain if you have any doubt about the old adage "Gun beats spear."

Listen, if you're really an "old man" like I'm getting to be - you really shouldn't need to be told by now not to get the big soda at the movie...nor too many cups of Joe before it!

I call it a testimony to how much I enjoyed The Force Awakens that I needed none bathroom breaks!

Kinda sad when that counts as an accomplishment, huh?! ;-)

I'm going to leave it. I would have called it "Christmas open thread" or something but it doesn't really matter.

I'm headed out to see The Hateful Eight with my sister in a couple hours, which is probably a poor decision with a 3:17 run time in the roadshow cut.

Ive added a tab to the ticket spreadsheet. Anyone else interested in buying/selling lightly used Michigan apparel? The selection here in Ohio sucks, and the online prices kill me.

I'm back to solid food now, although of course like an idiot I tried to eat my usual gigantic Christmas dinner. Had to rest in a dark room for a while after that. Luckily, I did have plenty of medicine and "medicine" on hand to ease the pain. I'm spending all day tomorrow sitting on the floor playing with my son and all his new toys. He's 4 and was a little confused about me being that sick, since I'm still superman to him.

Got an Xbox One, Fifa 16, Madden 16, NBA 2k16, Gears of War, and Halo 5 for the Xbox One. Oh, and Michigan-Nebraska basketball tickets. Not a bad day! Hoping everyone had a very merry Christmas, and a great holiday season in general! Go Blue! Cheers to a successful year one of Harbaugh Mania and here's to a dominating VICTORy in the Citrus Bowl against the Gators!

I managed to come home from the hospital today, and even if it is Christmas, the lack of bowl games has made the day a little long. Then again, there has been the NBA and a few college basketball games, and my kids have been unable to watch anything except that much to their chagrin, so I have gotten my own back a couple times in about ten short hours so far of being home.
