With one month of football down, what have we learned about Michigan and the rest of the big ten?

Submitted by Dayday on
I've learned that Michigan's defense is outstanding and will keep them in most games. I've also learned I'm now more concerned about 10/21 than I am about 11/27.

That our d reminds me of 1997’s D.
That our Oline play needs to make some huge strides.
That speight is a great guy and all...but, it’s probably time to hand the reins over to JOK.
And lastly...
That war-dawg69 is my new favorite mgoblogger.

Michigan's defense may well be better than last year's which is astounding. The offense is a work in progress, and the offensive line is going to, again, submarine this team without some luck. OSU is still the scariest team; PSU feels even more like a paper tiger. MSU is absolutely the same crappy team we all expected, but they'll probably get 5 or 6 wins.

Our team is settling down, the offense looked like a cohesive unit for much of the game (and all of the second half), our defense is a terrifying death machine, special teams appear excellent so far.

If the team can continue to grow and the offense continues to come together, I honestly believe that we can beat anyone in the country, and boy am I excited.

Onwards, boys! Time to blow out the Spartans.

... and I don't see 6 games won, either.

vs Iowa - L

@ Michigan - L

@ Minnesota - likely L (I see Minnesota Rowing the Boat to victory)

vs Indiana - ??? Maybe W? Haven't watched Indiana at all this year.

@ Northwestern - W

vs Penn State - L

@ OSU - L

vs Maryland - L if Maryland's QB is playing, W if not.

@ Rutgers - W

So that puts them at 5 wins for the year if you give them the Indiana game, 6 if they're lucky. Not a good year for them.

Can you imagine what our defense is going to do to poor Lewerke?

About Michigan: the defense is somewhat better than I thought it would be. And I thought it would still be near elite. Devin Bush and Chase Winovich are playing like All Americans, and the secondary is really coming along. The offense is still very much a work in progress, but it’s possible that all we needed was a QB change. We’ve got two weeks to get the kinks worked out. About the Big Ten: Barkley terrifies me. The rest of Penn State’s team does not. Barkley will get his yards against us because he’s just that good, but Brown will find a way to keep McSorely under duress the entire night. If our offense gets up to speed by then that game is a coin flip. Moving on, MSU is awful, and they should feel awful. Hope we beat them 63-0 in two weeks and just destroy whatever spirit they have left. OSU will be a bitch to deal with in November because whatever problems they still have WILL BE FIGURED OUT by then. They just will.

There are no 'elite' teams; UofM, OSU, PSU, and WI all have flaws and are all beatable on any given Saturday.

Purdue is not the doormat everyone expected.

The coaching changes at Purdue and Minnesota have had an almost immediate, positive impact.

MSU is better than last year; they had a bad game against Notre Dame.

Don't play Iowa at Kinnick Stadium at night.

I don't see us as of now on the same level as PSU, Wisconsin and OSU (who I still consider better than PSU and Wisconsin all things considered).  Yes, PSU and OSU have shown some chinks in their armor but Iet's face it, playing Oklahoma or a night game at Kinnick present much larger challenges than anything we've faced.

I think we would have lost both away at Iowa and vs OU at home. I think we need some massive improvements to compete for the Big Ten East title.
