Obama Shoutout to Denard during Speech in AA
I know no politics on the board, but no matter, still pretty cool that President Obama gave a shoutout to Denard during his speech.
Josh Katzenstein from the Detroit New just tweeted:
Obama: "Where's Denard? I hear Denard Robinson's in the house. I hear you're coming back man. That is a good deal for Michigan." #ObamaAA

So that is why I can see a pillar of smoke rising off from the west. Good to know.

That's okay, since he's been to UMich twice in as many years, I'm sure the President will visit our other prestigious in-state university on his next trip.
(Kalamazoo College)

Dude was at the ol' aircraft carrier game to watch MSU get clobbered by UNC. However, when he has real things to talk about, he comes to AA.

Yeah,
Like gays in the military.
January 28th, 2012 at 9:48 AM ^
...how important junior colleges are. So he'll probably visit GRCC

WOTS is that Dantonio tried to interrupt Obama to re-focus the speech on "more pressing matters at hand," but was apprehended in the process.

U of M - where the president knows who you are.
I am a little sorry that Lloyd Brady didn't get his own shout-out, though.

Not one mention of Dilithium as a renewable energy source.

First Lebron, now Obama, the only person that can top this is if he meets Tom Brady.

meanwhile....Sparties scamble to examine the possible NCAA violation of getting a shoutout from the President

Obama GETS IT.
January 27th, 2012 at 10:37 AM ^
A topic like this can be started without any political intentions, but it will inevitably turn that way when you're talking about the president. This should probably be deleted.
January 27th, 2012 at 10:39 AM ^
We had an "Obama is coming to Glick" thread on Monday, and it didn't asplode w/ politics. I'll monitor, but it is just possible that the goddamn plane might not hit the mountain.

Yeah, this thread looks fine actually. I've seen my fair share of threads like this go bad, though, that's all I was saying.

...or people can just act with maturity. This is a pretty innocent topic.
January 27th, 2012 at 10:43 AM ^
I hope people can just appreciate the fact that the president mentioned Denard, not because he's Barack Obama but just because he's the president. I would think this was cool if it was President Bush (43), President Clinton, President Bush (41), or Millard Fillmore (our first werewolf president).
January 27th, 2012 at 10:46 AM ^
+1 to you sir, I actually laughed seeing first werewolf president. The next image that came in my head was that blue hairy creature from X-Men 3 played by Kelsey Grammer.
January 27th, 2012 at 10:46 AM ^
No one loved a good Millard Fillmore joke more than Millard Fillmore.
January 27th, 2012 at 10:46 AM ^
A werewolf president would have given a shoutout to Troy Woolfolk. And possibly Barwis.
January 27th, 2012 at 10:49 AM ^
Honestly (and I hope I'm not revealing any political bias here) I wish it was one of our early republic presidents. Obama has a helicopter and Blackberry's and what-not, but that just doesn't compare to half a British accent and a wig, not to mention the cigar/spitoon next to the podium.
January 27th, 2012 at 11:03 AM ^
All of the American presidents should be forced to wear powdered wigs. That should be a non-negotiable tradition.
Cigars & spitoons would be cool too...but that could be left to personal perference.
January 27th, 2012 at 11:03 AM ^
Or did they have similar platforms?
January 27th, 2012 at 6:37 PM ^
to give a shout out to Denard would have been Ford.
January 27th, 2012 at 11:02 AM ^
Speaking of politics, I wish Brian would put a stupid tax on certain posters.
