Is this not a Josh Gattis offense? Ace and Seth don’t seem to think so.

So I’m hoping for a dialogue on what you all are seeing collectively to make you think that Gattis is or is not calling the plays.

Anyone watching this offense can tell it still has influence from Harbaugh, but is that more game planning or is it because on Saturdays he is in control of the plays?

I know Sam Webb all of last year was adamant that this was Josh’s offense, but twice now in the last week I’ve heard stated by Ace and his friends on his podcast as well as today on the Mgoblog roundtable by Seth that part of the solution should be, “let Gattis call his plays and and turn the offense over completely to him”. Is that not already what this is? Did something change and Harbaugh is back to calling everything or is this people grasping at straws trying to find reasons why we are are hot turds?

I don't get the fascination with Gattis. I honestly think it is just looking for a place to pin the blame (and hope). It's like cheering for the 2nd string qb. If we can all collectively think Gattis has the key to an explosive offense but JH is holding him back that sure does give you a lot of hope.

My bet is that is not the case and I'm losing a lot of faith in Gattis. I wonder how good he actually is and if he is in over his head.

Maybe Gattis is calling plays, maybe not.  But when you have the following I don't think it matters who is calling the plays:

1.  An OL that can't run block or give the QB time in the Pocket.

2.  A QB that can't read defenses, locks onto his primary receiver, is not accurate throwing the ball and is slow to make decisions.

3.  A RB rotation that makes no sense and RB's that do not seem interested in pass protection.

This makes no sense - the guy who we beat up all those years for running the ball too much is now all of a sudden not running the ball with HH and ZC - the stats and substitute tendencies do not back this theory up.

Also, maybe Pep took too much blame during his stint??? He seems to be quite the QB whisperer with Justin Herbert. Sure the kid has a high upside and is supposedly pretty damn intelligent, but I don't think many saw this type of rookie performance from him. He's performing well ahead of schedule and it's even more impressive after a pandemic training camp. Got to think Pep has some hand in that.

Isaiah Hole keeps insisting it’s Harbaugh-free and always has been.  He has good sources, particularly with players.  But it sure looks like a typical over-complicated Harbaugh mess to me.  All our offenses have looked the same to me since 2017, more or less.  We just have new formations and more motion.
