I think you're confused. Nebraska opened against Illinois. Wisconsin opened against PSU.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:39 PM ^
I'm talking about last year. I think his first game he was like 20/21 or something crazy like that, but he looked more average as the season progressed and this year he seems below average.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:40 PM ^
That makes more sense with that missing bit of information.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:40 PM ^
Mertz threw for 5 touchdowns on near perfect passing in his first career start which was against Illinois last year.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:51 PM ^
Hes talking about last year dork.. Mertz started his career against Illinois last year as r with 5 tds or some shit
September 25th, 2021 at 1:32 PM ^
Perfect coverage.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:32 PM ^
Maybe the Wisconsin D can score some points and pull this one out for us.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:33 PM ^
Wisconsin's defense looks solid but ND's line looks like it has some holes.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:34 PM ^
What is Chryst doing? Doesn’t he want more time to score?
September 25th, 2021 at 1:34 PM ^
Wisconsin playing like shit
edit: meant that punt field
September 25th, 2021 at 1:35 PM ^
Meant he shouldn’t have let that punt drop over his head
September 25th, 2021 at 1:34 PM ^
Wisconsin front seven is the real deal.
We will have to make it a QB battle, Cade versus Mertz. I like our odds on that one.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:38 PM ^
I wish I remember the poster last year who said Mertz basically would be a Heisman level QB.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:41 PM ^
If that pans out, M wins comfortably. Cade McNamara is the most underestimated player by fans on the team.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:36 PM ^
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
September 25th, 2021 at 1:36 PM ^
No more Barry Alvarez to plan the game for wiscy anymore. With him leaving last year I wonder what they will be like moving forward
September 25th, 2021 at 1:37 PM ^
I guess Chryst is thinking take it to start in the second half and make it a new ball game. Just don’t understand not trying to score in the last few minutes here.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:51 PM ^
Because they can't
September 25th, 2021 at 1:38 PM ^
Holy shit. Chryst is more conservative than harbaugh.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:38 PM ^
I’m pretty surprised by the first half. Wisconsin looks terrible on offense. Playing for halftime with that much time left is very telling.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:39 PM ^
No confidence in their offense for Wisc
September 25th, 2021 at 1:43 PM ^
Spoke too soon. LOL. Nice fumble.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:39 PM ^
Wisconsin shooting themselves in the foot these last couple of minutes
September 25th, 2021 at 1:39 PM ^
Minnesota down at half, when they were supposed to win by 31. Horrible.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:50 PM ^
It's a let down game. They absolutely destroyed Colorado, at Colorado, last week.
They will wake up and win.
September 25th, 2021 at 2:41 PM ^
Going into this season, BG was one of the very worst programs in the country. There’s no reason Minnesota should be losing at home at the start of the 4th quarter. I expect the Gophers will pull it out, but this is bad.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:40 PM ^
Mertz is trash but will somehow look like Joe Montana circa 1988 against us.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:49 PM ^
In case you weren’t aware Michigan has two new secondary coaches. Clinkscale is well respected and has the secondary playing pretty well. Maybe let the game happen. I know there is history of QBs hitting ridiculous throws against UM but this is a new team and new staff.
September 25th, 2021 at 2:08 PM ^
Yes, but Joe Montana.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:41 PM ^
The thing that makes me optimistic is that both ND and Wisconsin just don’t look athletic or fast. I feel like one of the big differences with Michigan this year is we look fast. We haven’t always looked that way.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:46 PM ^
I'm still concerned with how we'll look running the ball. ND has given up trying to run at all today and we're only at halftime. Their leading runner has 8 carries for a total of 7 yards.
On the flip side, Wisconsin's leading rusher has 7 carries for 13 yards.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:42 PM ^
Turrible game for ND-Wisc.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:43 PM ^
It looks like Steve Sarkisians offensive game is finally coming around.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:44 PM ^
OMG. What is this. Got to check it out. I thought Texas was trash
September 25th, 2021 at 1:53 PM ^
Sarkisian put together a very good staff. They took over a very bad team. It looks like they may have started getting things in the right direction.
September 25th, 2021 at 2:08 PM ^
Texas was 7-3 last year with 3 losses by a combined 13 points. They were absolutely not a "bad" team. They underwhelmed and got tripped up against inferior teams, but it remains to be seen if he can lift Texas above "pretty good team that trips itself a couple of times a year."
September 25th, 2021 at 1:50 PM ^
I’m pretty sure every team that plays Texas Tech scores a minimum of 42.
September 25th, 2021 at 2:15 PM ^
Texas has average 45 against Texas Tech since 2011. They scored 63 against them last year. Oklahoma State has averaged 47 against them since 2010. Ok State scored 50 last year. Oklahoma has averaged 50 against them since 2010 and scored 62 last year. Texas Tech doesn’t play defense. This game tells the fans and Texas literally nothing.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:45 PM ^
Penn State 18 yards rushing on 17 attempts vs Villanova
September 25th, 2021 at 1:49 PM ^
Ha ha.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:47 PM ^
Please tell me this is a product of Wisconsin’s offense being that bad as opposed to ND’s defense being that good.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:52 PM ^
Florida State put up 38 on Notre Dame and Florida State is bad bad. Like should be FCS bad. If that doesn’t do it for you, Toledo scored 29 on them as well. Notre Dame may have a good defense but good is certainly the ceiling. A good Big Ten team should be able to put up over 28 on them.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:49 PM ^
I think ND is pretty good but through this half at least it seems like Wisconsin is not the class of the Big Ten West this year. Road goes through Iowa City seems like.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:51 PM ^
Although what the announcers just said makes it seem like Wisconsin’s ground defense is very good so we may have to be able to throw next week. Think they said Wisconsin has allowed 67 yards on the ground through 2.5 games so far this season. Still Michigan’s ground game may be the most potent they will face this year.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:53 PM ^
We will see. I think they are basing that on ND's running game. I think Ms ground game is better.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:57 PM ^
Eastern Michigan only ran the ball like 20 times and Eastern Michigan is not good. Cain ran the ball 8 times for 48 yards 6.0 ypc. Corum is better than Cain and Michigan’s run game is better than PSUs. Michigan will be fine on the ground. It will be tougher yards they have to work, but they’ll be fine.
September 25th, 2021 at 2:05 PM ^
Wisconsin has faced the #122, #104, and #86 rush offenses thus far this season, and so it's fair to say we don't know how they'll look against an above-average rush offense. They're solid but I'm more worried about their secondary right now than their defensive line.
September 25th, 2021 at 2:17 PM ^
Their number 1 CB looks good.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:54 PM ^
BGSU up 7-3 over Minne… just starting the 3rd quarter. That’s surprising
