Did he ever have total control of the ball there?
September 25th, 2021 at 1:21 PM ^
I think this can’t be a catch
September 25th, 2021 at 1:21 PM ^
That's going to be overturned. No doubt the DB ripped it out.
Edit: I spoke too soon. The alternate angle made it clear he had possession when he crossed the plane.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:22 PM ^
Nevermind that looks like a catch.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:22 PM ^
But it might stand, but not "confirmed.
Whatever the case, the rule is too picky.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:22 PM ^
Wisconsin got hosed on that call. Yikes.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:23 PM ^
Which one? Lol
September 25th, 2021 at 1:23 PM ^
I'm not sure what a TD is anymore lol
September 25th, 2021 at 1:29 PM ^
somewhere between that and Megatron's infamous called off TD is a catch
September 25th, 2021 at 1:54 PM ^
It all depends on what team you play for lol
September 25th, 2021 at 1:23 PM ^
Not sure that was truly a catch, but with ND scoring a TD I think this game is over for Wisconsin. They can't seem to generate anything on offense.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:23 PM ^
I don’t agree with that.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:24 PM ^
If that was Calvin Johnson it wouldn't have been a TD
September 25th, 2021 at 1:24 PM ^
I'd give you DPI on that, but no way that's a catch. The receiver never had control of it
September 25th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
Zebras always in ND pocket
September 25th, 2021 at 1:30 PM ^
ND, OSU, Clemson, OU, and Alabama. Everyone else is PI, Targeting, Holding, and illegal Lineman downfield! Smh
September 25th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
I don't think that was a catch but I'm surprised they said confirmed versus just saying they couldn't overturn it. Wisconsin doesn't seem like it quite has the horses to keep up with ND offensively to start, so we'll see if this call is the difference.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:28 PM ^
Think that play was a close call, as close as it could get, maybe had it right, though agree surprised they didn't rule "stands".
September 25th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
The cowbell at MissState has to be one of the worst things in all of college football
September 25th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
Mertz versus Adrain Martinez. No defenses on the field.
What's the over/under on how many drives until one of them eventually scores?
I'm going with 4 drives.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:27 PM ^
Martinez would manage to run it in with no defense on the field. Mertz would trip over himself.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:26 PM ^
probably the floodgates are open now, and W gets humiliated
hope not; would love if they could somehow pull this out to improve the value of our game next week
plus, To Hell With Notre Dame
September 25th, 2021 at 1:32 PM ^
It's hard to humiliate W. They will probably get things back under wraps.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:41 PM ^
I certainly hope so, but how's that looking at this point? I don't think this is the Wisconsin to which we are accustomed.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:26 PM ^
Watching Wisconsin, I believe their run defense is pretty good. Our O-line will be critical to our success for sure. They haven't been tested like they will in that game. What worries me is how McNamara played against Washington, he was jittery at home so how will he handle the pressure on the road in a raucous environment. His first road game as a starter in front of fans
September 25th, 2021 at 1:26 PM ^
The bedazzled arm stripe on Notre Dame's jerseys looks ridiculous. Their jerseys look like a six year old's $10 halloween costume of an ancient royal king. That's what I imagine the gold looking like on a free crown that comes with a Burger King kids meal.
If they got rid of that terrible stripe and wore a matte helmet, their uniforms would look historic and overall "fine."
It honestly bothers me so much, that it makes it difficult to watch this game.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:27 PM ^
Wisconsin getting screwed. Officials making their mark.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:28 PM ^
Yep. ACC crew I wonder?
September 25th, 2021 at 1:39 PM ^
It doesn’t matter what conference the officials are from it’s all the same. They are nothing but part of the production crew.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:27 PM ^
Why don't coaches teach players to NEVER block in the back? No matter what.
Don't even let it look close.
September 25th, 2021 at 3:11 PM ^
They do
September 25th, 2021 at 1:27 PM ^
Those refs though.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:29 PM ^
Sorry gentleman that is definitely a catch. Also I want Notre Dame to win. Michigan will beat Wisconsin next week and Cincy should be Notre Dame next week. The big question next week is can Freeman get after his old team because he knows tendencies? Or is it the other way around and the offense will know where to go after Freeman?
September 25th, 2021 at 1:30 PM ^
It was definitely a catch but he pushed off to create separation. IMHO of course
September 25th, 2021 at 1:36 PM ^
It seems that refs let one push by the WR happen.
I don't like it. But it looks like it's been allowed across the board to happen.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
Graham Mertz totally sucks.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
It’s fine to miss a receiver but Mertz missed that real bad. He’s awful.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
10 points may win this.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
Chryst has to pull Mertz.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
Unpopular opinion but I think it's an L for Michigan. Wisconsin run D is stifling. Haven't seen enough confidence from mcnamara that he can win it with his arm. Also , no Bell.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:35 PM ^
Wisconsin's defense seems very good for sure. Their offense doesn't seem great either though and I'm not sure Mertz can win a game with his arm either. I think that game will look a lot like the Wisconsin-PSU game unless McNamara starts slinging it around.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:35 PM ^
Don't worry. M will win 3-0. That Wisconsin QB is going no where next week
September 25th, 2021 at 1:41 PM ^
That'd be a cat game
M30W
September 25th, 2021 at 1:35 PM ^
Yeah, but all we need to do next week is score 10 and we win.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:38 PM ^
I'm not saying W or L at this point. But it's gonna be a 60 minute battle in Madison next week. My interest will be in seeing how mentally tough our program is.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:53 PM ^
Wisconsin’s running game seems pedestrian. Should be able to get pressure on Mertz. Wisconsin doesn’t have a threat to house it like they’ve had in the past this time we have that back.
We should be able to beat them. We’ll see how this team, who has shown energy and excitement this year, will preform on the road. So far the staff changes seem to have this team playing excited for the first time in a long time.
September 25th, 2021 at 2:00 PM ^
Wisconsin's run defense is good but let's also recognize they've played against the #104 (PSU), #86 (EMU), and #122 (ND) rush offenses in the country. So some of it is their defense but this also will be interesting to see how they look against a rushing offense that is a bit better and more robust than what they've faced thus far.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
Wide open receiver... I'm actually concerned at this point that he's going to get himself demoted, and we won't get to play him.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:42 PM ^
Yeah, Mertz needs to pick it up, but just a little.
September 25th, 2021 at 1:32 PM ^
The Wisconsin QB has really fallen off since that opening day game against Illinois huh?
