Thought I would share because it is a nice article by John Bacon on what was a truly awesome event. Article Here: http://johnubacon.com/2017/01/best-game-week-hands/ John U. Bacon has a casual blog on his website where he occasionally writes some small articles. This was a nice one he made recently on the Michigan Alumni vs Red Wings Alumni Hockey Game at Yost last Saturday. As most of you already know this game was for Scott Matzka and his MyTurn4ALS Foundation. A link to support is put in the article but here it is again for your further convenience: https://secure.squarespace.com/commerce/donate?donatePageId=576bf42a46c… More info on the foundation is available on that website in the link or in the article! Enjoy and Go Blue!

I went to school with his little sister. She was so proud of her older brother who was playing hockey for the Wolverines and getting ready for his pro career. I heard Sam talking about the alumni game and couldnt believe Scott was fighting ALS. The Matzka family has been in my prayers ever since. Great to hear that the Michigan family is showing them so much support. Go Blue!

As a member of the Dekers exec board I want to thank you for posting this article. I  am still in awe of how great the event was this past weekend. It was great from the get go with packed stands, record donations to Scott and ALS, a really fun alumni game, LJ Scarpace's daughter's beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, and the heartbreaking speech by Scott. Thank you to everyone who went to the game, volunteered to help out, or donated to Scott's foundation.

I can't believe the Dekers pulled off this event in only month of planning and prep. Scott's buddies came to us one month ago with this idea for the bye weekend when Yost would be empty. Everyone went to amazing lengths for Scott and his family. The Dekers are still receiving donations as of this moment for Scott. If you are interested in donating to Scott, please donate to Scott's foundation directly now, not the Dekers. I am in the process of cutting a big check and for sake of my sanity direct the funds to Scott Matzka now.

If you are still interested in donating or learning more about Scott Matzka and his foundation please go to http://scottmatzka.com/

Thanks everyone! Go Blue!

I volunteered for the event and manned the ticket sales / will call desk and can attest to how proud I am of the UM, and Red Wing hockey community. I went home and rehashed the stories of the night to my wife ,and realized it was more stories than the last two years M-hockey combined. Scott and his family laughing, hugging, crying with dozens of others in the north lobby, Red buying one more ticket for someone even though there were two envelopes full of "Berenson" tickets, Scott's mom climbing the glass behind the bench and giving Red "the business" one more time, Klima and Redmond flying around without helmets and big grins on their faces, Dave Coulier [Uncle Joey] scoring a rebound goal, etc.

Really great to see JUB recognize this extraordinary event. It was truly special. Fantastic turnout, lots of student, alumni, and fan participation...Not to mention former player/professionals put on a great show. Scott and his family were blown away by the support shown by everyone. For anyone that wasn't able to make it, but would like to help the Matzka family and fight ALS, please visit scottmatzka.com. #MyTurn4ALS!
