New University of Michigan License Plates in Texas
I received this email yesterday regarding the new UofM plates in Texas. Any fans in Texas can pre-order them now. Most of the obvious combinations are taken, but there are some good ones available.

Excerpt from the email:
The University of Michigan needs to secure 200 pre-orders before the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles can launch this official plate.
Previously registered interest to purchase this plate?
Just hearing about it now?
Then NOW is the time to ACT!!Follow the simple steps below. The University of Michigan needs 200 Pre-Orders from supporters like you to launch this plate in Texas, and there is only a limited amount of time to reach this number.
If 200 Pre-Orders are not reached, the University of Michigan plate will not launch, and all orders/monies received will be fully refunded.
This is very cool-we do not have nice things in Kansas.
This will have to do
Liberal, Kansas gave us Jerame Tuman. Since I live in this state now, I'm waiting for the next great wolverine from Kansas!
Perhaps you can paint a big block M on it?
People, Delaware has University of Michigan plates and there's almost certainly less than 100 alums in that state (and 100 is probably a generous estimate). Texas alums need to make this happen.
There has to be at least a few thousand corporate and bankrutpcy lawyers in Delaware that graduated from Michigan Law School.
but many rich people from the Wilmington area live over the border in PA. In my time in the Philly and Delaware areas, I rarely ever saw Michigan gear. It seems like most Michigan alums in the east end up in NYC-NJ or DC-Baltimore. Not as many in Philly in my somewhat limited experience.
Fun fact: more corporate entities are based in Delaware (~950,000+) than there are people (~900,000).
Order has been completed. I've been looking for UM license plates in Texas for 10 years now.
I stopped getting the U of M plates from the state of MI (which are "fundraising plates") b/c I couldn't stand they had a blue M on a yellow field. It looked dumb.
I just Googled it and see they finally switched it so it looks exactly like the Texas plate (in terms of the block M; the whole MI plate is not maize & blue). A point to the Michigan marketers who made sure our trademark was finally correctly being displayed.
Damn it. I live in Ohio and would love to get a M plate.
Me too. It would be cool as Hell for all 15 minutes it remained on the car once I left it unattended.
screw you, illinois
Ordered mine yesterday as soon as I got the email. Didn't have the $'s for the full custom, so went with the 3-letter, 2 number option and nabbed "FAB 05"... I also graduated in '05 so it works two ways.
I upvoted this post. My avatar made me do it.
What is the upcharge on these suckers? They do look nice, but I'm not sure I want to shell out a ton of money for something that I never actually get to look at while I'm driving. Right now I just have the boring white ones that the DMV gave us.
I see the prices on the site now. Not terrible, but I'm not sure I'll get the wife on board for something that could be accomplished just as easily with a nice licence plate holder for a lot cheaper, even though the plates look really nice.
Brian should get on this one before it's too late.
