NBA combine measurements, results

Submitted by blueheron on May 19th, 2023 at 8:38 AM

CBS Sports and many other sites recently made some NBA combine data available. SIAP.

It's always interesting to see how tall the players actually are. I'd like to see actual verified heights on all rosters, but that will probably never happen.

Notably, Kobe Bufkin measured at his roster height. That's uncommon. Onetime Michigan commitment Jalen Wilson, who has been listed as 6'8" since high school, is actually 6'5.5". No data on Jett Howard ...

I hope he finds happiness playing basketball but it feels like a poster child for massive overreaction and overrating of HS recruits.  Him being considered the next LeBron always seemed dubious but I remember years ago his combine numbers were mediocre and now he's clocking in as a skinny guy with a limited wingspan who can't defend anyone is willing likely be a 2nd round flyer, at best, in this draft

He was getting the hype at camps his freshman and soph yrs, so I don't think it was over reaction. He just peaked as a soph and never developed any other parts of his game. He's a very poor mans version of Kevin Durant, with very bad shot selection. He hasn't shown he can impact the game if his jumper isn't falling.

On the other hand, Jarace Walker has um I guess sloth arms (i.e., sloths have really long arms for their body length). 8" longer than his height. Same with Ryan Rupert and Jordan Walsh (and probably a few others).

Zach Edey's wingspan is 7'10.5" - that's crazy. Per this link, that would give him the longest wingspan of any current NBA player, and this link says he'd have the 4th longest wingspan in NBA history (although apparently #3 on the list, Kevin McHale, needs an asterisk as his wingspan was never actually confirmed).

I've sort of talked myself in to Cam Whitmore for the Pistons.

Looks like he's very athletic based on the combine results.

Can shoot 3's.  Strong build.

Might slot in nicely next to Cade and Ivey.

He's probably my 3rd choice right now behind Hendricks or Walker.  I feel like whitmore is somewhere between a larger Diallo and a shorter Jerami Grant.  Not sure the Pistons really need that.  Hendricks gives you more defensive upside and better shooting while Walker is going to be a Draymond Green type, hopefully without the headaches.
