Naming rights: Double or nothing, or 2012 Cowboys Classic Comes Home To Roost
Until turning Cam McGrone into a Gilbert & Sullivan song (on Brian's prompt), pretty much the only contribution I have made to the board, other than incessant & terrible jokes, was this diary post over seven years ago.
In it, I told how we were betting the name of our firstborn son on the outcome of the 2012 game. Luckily (for me) it turned out to be a girl a couple months later and so I just said "hey, double or nothing on the next one".
Like I said in the diary, it's like Thucydides' characterization of the Peloponnesian Wars--an elephant vs. a whale. How often do they actually come into conflict?
Well, not only have those mixed metaphors come home to roost today, but once again we are some 7 weeks away from having another baby, and so double (Nicholas Paul, which actually doesn't sound so bad) or nothing () it is.
If you thought that was bad I also have to watch the game with my in-laws, who are the worst kind of Bama fans--the kind that started rooting for them in 2009 when my wife started law school there. So...yeah.
