Twitter link.

$33 million over 6 years for a guy with 5 career head coaching victories.  Puts him at 12th highest paid coach in the country.

Why would bringing in recruiting guys matter? They brought Blackwell in, who had Michigan connections, and the only highly ranked people he could bring had highly questionable character who were kicked off the team. MSU isn’t shitty on the recruiting trail because they can’t hire a dynamic recruiter. They are shitty because they are MSU and they have Michigan and OSU taking all their plan A guys, making them settle for plan B and plan C guys. Marrow isn’t going to change that

Nothing says little brother more than paying a coach twice his market rate.  It just tells you how bad a job it is at this time.  That being said time will judge the tenure of Mel Tucker.  I hope he keeps it cleaner than the debauchery that was the Dantonio era, if nothing else for the citizens of Michigan.

That’s $6.4 million per career victory. The next State fan that I hear say Harbaugh is overpaid is getting punched right in the dick. By the same ratio of dollars to career victory, Harbaugh’s initial contract at Michigan would’ve been worth just under $685 million.

My Sparty wife, as awesome as she is, believes this is a step up for Tucker’s career and a lateral position to UM head coach.

She is pretty level headed in all things in life so this has me baffled.

I mean, I can understand why he took their money, I just can't understand why they offered it. Can't really understand anything this school has ever done in the first place, though, so: par for the course.

Let’s review MSU football staff spending for the next six years committed to the last two weeks.

$4.3 mil bonus to Mork

$1 mil annual make work job for Mork

$3 mil buyout to Colorado for Tucker

$33 mil in salary for Tucker

$38 mil assistant salary pool

unknown commitment to facility improvements

Total: $79.3 million and possibly more based on facilities and how long Mork milks them.

All the “Harbaugh being over paid” dumb fucks, including all the media in all the state of Michigan, can shut the fuck up now

If Harbaugh is overpaid, then Tucker is in a different universe.

And anyway, Harbaugh got paid his going rate at the time. Remember, M was competing with the NFL, who wanted to throw all the cash at him too. Even significantly more than Michigan did.

MSU was competing with absolutely nobody except themselves. They more than doubled the salary of a guy whose entire HC record consists of 5-7 at Colorado.

The two aren't even comparable.

I just said maybe we shouldn’t be comparing with MSU. Multiple things can be true at once: Harbaugh received his contract based on his market value. It absolutely makes sense he was offered what he was offered at the time. He hasn’t really lived up to those expectations. 7 mil a year should be better than 3rd place in the east and 0-5 vs OSU.

Michigan State is a tire fire and the amount they offered Tucker is absurd. These things can all be true.

Fucking stupid and Obscene.  I normally do no bemoan what anyone is paid...but this is ridiculous.  If I were a student at MSU, Id be pissed.

Lots of faith in an amount that they think equals success for an unproven HC. Just bury them the first few years and watch the temperature rise.

I have no issue with this guy getting paid this much money. He is getting $2.75 Million per year to coach football. And $2.75 Million per year to be at Michigan State University. I think that's a fair offer for having to be affiliated with that horrible institution.

My phone news feed suggested a fluff piece from the free press on how this guy is msu footballs biggest victory in years....

“He was inspiring,” said Beekman, the school’s athletic director. “He made me want to suit up.”

... So the guy who hired him thinks he'll do a good job, insightful journalism.
